Stuckart Lumber resumed operations Tuesday following closure over the Labor Day holidays. A party of six bird hunters left here Friday night for Eastern Oregon to take ad vantage of the opening on sage hens. Those in the party were Ray Sophy of Jordan Valley, Richard Rice and a friend of Turner, Russell Rice and Ray Sophy Jr. of Salem and Harold Champion. They were hunting some 30 miles south of Burns and had a successful hunt. The weather was cloudy by Satur day afternoon with rain setting in that evening. Sunday it was cloudy and windy. After the sun popped out Tuesday afternoon about 1 o’clock, this reported noticed a lot of white stuff flying in the air. The air was so full, on I this street anyway, that it looked like snow flakes. I fin ally caught one and it appear I ed to be a tiny flying ant with ' rather large wings for the size ' of the insect. They evidently I had just hatched. The birds were having a ball catching them on the wing and the cats are watching the birds. In this case survival for all is at a minimum. Camp Information Center Closed The Campsite Information Center operated by the State Highway Division closed for the year. Monday, it was an nounced by Roderick L. Port er, state highway engineer. The system provided a state wide toll-free number, 1-800- 452-0294, which people could use to obtain the latest inform ation concerning availability of campsites in State Parks and other data concerning parks and recreation areas. It was designed to help relieve the congestion at some of Ore gon's more popular sites and the frustrations of driving to a site and finding it full. Highway officials plan to study the effectiveness of the system before deciding if it will be continued next season.
