DETROIT IDANHA Bv Boot» Champion It was announced here this week that Mrs. Lloyd Hend rickson, who has taught high school here for the past four years has resigned because her husband is being transferred. Mr. Hendrickson is employ ed by the U. S. Forest service here and is being transferred to Twisp, Wn. Mrs. Jeannie Blake of Mill City has bene hired to succeed Mrs. Hendrickson. School will open September 8, with 9th through 12th grade registra tion set for September 2 in the commercial room of the high school. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Estey were Mrs. Bernice Lee and son, Clyde Shields of Pasadena, Cal.; Mrs. Edith Shields and Mrs. Mabel Parker, both of Silver- ton. The three sisters of Mrs. Estey all attended school to gether many years ago in the old town of Detroit. Other visitors were Mrs. Donna Workman and son, Neal of Vancouver, Wn. They also visited at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Brown, and at the home of her sister, Mrs. Linda Jenk ins. U. 8. Plywood-Champion Pa pers, Inc., closed down Friday morning about 9:45 due to trouble with veneer clippers which failed to function prop erly. However, office person nel remained on the job. Mill operations resumed following the repair of the clippers. Greg Slayden and Gary Lynn left by plane Thursday for a week’s visit with rela tives and friends in the San Diego area. Spending the day (Tuesday) in the Marion Forks area was Rex Gibson of Salem and his guests T.V. star (Virginian) James Drury and his family. The group spent the afternoon at the quiet and peaceful pri vate lake of the Scott Youngs, where a bit of fishing was the order of the day.
