at Mt. Angel this year during
the Oktoberfest. The opera
company will present "The
Barber of Seville”, work will
soon start on a “Hansel and
Gretel Village” which will be­
come a permanent recreation
area for children, permanent
flower gardens, an annual soc
cer tournament and use of the
new million dollar library for
art and sculptor exhibits.
"Oktoberfest 1970 will be
much more of a family affair
according to Ed Jenck, presi­
dent f the board of directors
for the Mt. Angel, Oktoberfest,
one of the most attended events
of its kind in Oregon. “We ex­
pect another 150,000 to attend
our town during the three and
one-half day celebration so we
really don’t need more people,
so we are now upgrading and
expanding every cultural as­
pect of the entire event,” Jenck
stated. It will be held Septem­
ber 17 through 20, Thursday
through Sunday.
Jenck heads the new Okto­
berfest board of directors, who
consist of Sam Bates, Vice
President; Ron Schmidt, Vice
