The Schneiders went on to Port Angeles where they visited his sister's family, the Fred Sul livans. Mrs. Jack Ryland was taken to Salem Memorial hospital on May 29 for a series of tests. Mrs. M. V. Frame and Mrs. E. J. Hughes visited during the Memorial Day weekend at the home of Mrs. Hughes’ son, D. C. Hughes and family at Knappa. Mrs. G. V. Christensen, Bonnie and Stuart went to Se attle Saturday afternoon and visited with friends, returning home Sunday evening. The new board has begun work to see that families will find something for everyone at Mt. Angel this year during the Oktoberfest. The opera company will present "The Barber of Seville”, work will soon start on a “Hansel and Gretel Village” which will be come a permanent recreation area for children, permanent flower gardens, an annual soc cer tournament and use of the new million dollar library for art and sculptor exhibits. "Oktoberfest 1970 will be much more of a family affair according to Ed Jenck, presi dent f the board of directors for the Mt. Angel, Oktoberfest, one of the most attended events of its kind in Oregon. “We ex pect another 150,000 to attend our town during the three and one-half day celebration so we really don’t need more people, so we are now upgrading and expanding every cultural as pect of the entire event,” Jenck stated. It will be held Septem ber 17 through 20, Thursday through Sunday.
