Plans are being made now for approximately 775 credit and non-credit courses to be offered at 13 commimity centers within the Mid-Willamette Area Education District and at the central Salem campus, Previously all classes have been lield in Salem. “During 1970 we will bring adult education programs to the people of the district,’’ Paul F. Wilmeth, president of the community college, said. Whenever 12 people or more in a community desire the same kind of educational program or course, every effort will be made to provide an instructor. “Any community college program should reflect the needs of the area it serves and the objectives of the people living within the district,” Wilmeth said, “It would be very difficult to serve our total population by concentrating only on one aspect of a com prehensive community college program, Nearly all adult education courses will be offered because of the needs of particular people in the community college district. Classes will be offered as close as possible to the students who decide to attend a particular course, As an example of a course offered this term by popular request in Salem is one in commercial salmon fishing, This could be offered at any of the district centers. Other possibilities include farm management, disease prevention, art, log scaling—or any other subject people need to learn. Pos sibilities in the home economics field include sewing with knits and stretch fabrics, training for day care and nursery school work, pre-retirement, landscaping and home decorating. Adult education leaders in each community are cooperating with the college in the expansion program. Courses will be offered at centrally located high school campuses or community centers on the same hourly fee as the class would be offered at the community college campus in Salem. The 13 centers are McMinnville, W illamina-Grand Ronde, Sheridan, Yamhill-Carlton, Lafayette-Dayton, Central, Dallas, Falls City- Valsetz, Jefferson, Stayton, Silverton, Mill City-Detroit-Lyons, Woodburn-St. Paul-Aurora-Gervais.
