Third Ave. Stayton Ph. 769-2154 Mrs. Agnes Kellom, former Mill City resident now living at the Marian Home in Sub limity, was honored with a surprise birthday luncheon re cently at the home of Mrs. Martin Hansen. Mrs. Richard Verbeck of Tangent brsught Mrs. Kellom here and co-host ed the party. Mrs. Kellom and her late husband owned and operated a small grocery store on N.W. Alder for many years and the neighborhood party was giv en by her friends to show affection and memories of the time she spent here. Mrs. Verbeck had baked and decorated a beautiful “bee hive” shaped birthday cake which was presented to Mrs. Kellom along with gifts. Honoring Mrs. Kellom be side the hostesses were Mrs. Charles Kelly, Mrs. Tena Gra ham, Mrs. Louis Verbeck, Mrs. Elsa Allen, Mrs. Howard Fenner and Mrs. Bessie Van dermeer. STAYTON—Mrs. Ercil Wil son was reelected president of the Santiam Memorial Hos pital Auxiliary at the meeting of the Board of Directors of that organization last Thurs day. Other officers serving with her are Mrs. Delbert Sandner, first vice president; Mrs. William Wallace, second vice president; Mrs. J. C. Kim mel, secretary, and Mrs. Arlo Tuers, treasurer. The nine new members of the Board of Directors are Mrs. Cliff Coleman, Mrs. Walter H. BUSINESS CARDS BOOKLETS ACCOUNTING FORMS Dr. Alger Fitch, who is presently a professor at North west Christian College in Eu gene, will be the Evangelist for the meetings which will be held in the Christian Church beginning Friday evening, Jan uary 30 and closing Sunday evening, February 1. Dr. Fitch has been preach ing in Oregon for the last 27 years, except far a short leave to continue his education in California. He preached 15 years at Milwaukie, and has held numerous Evangelistic Meetings. He is now on the board of the World Convention of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ and is a popular speaker at national conventions and missionary meetings. Special music will be pre sented at each meeting. Fri day evening, January 30 the James Alley's, who minister at Scio, will present several mus- ica selections with their swiss handbells. All interested persons are invited to these meetings which will begin at 7:30 p. m. Lyons Garden Club Installs Officers LYONS—Mrs. Ralph Down er and Mrs. Harley Scott were hostesses for the meeting of the Lyons Garden Club at the Downer home Wednesday af ternoon. Installation of officers was the main business. Installed were Mrs. Otto Weidman presi dent, Mrs. Alex Bodeker vice- president and Mrs. James Me- Pheeters secretary - treasurer. Mrs. Harley Scott installed the officers. Each one was pre sented with a beautiful cor sage by the out going presi dent, Mrs. Hugh Johnston. Roll call was answered by telling of a new garden reso lution for the new year. Camp Fire Girls Complete Child Care Course At Bowes Home GATES—Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bowes were hosts to five couples at their home Satur day evening for pinochle. Af ter dinner at the Riverview, Mr. and Mrs. Giles Wagner, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Taylor, and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Phil lips of Mehama, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Myers of Silverton anu Mr. and Mrs. Fred Reinke of Jefferson enjoyed several pin ochle games. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips won the man and woman consolation prize, while Mr. Wagner and Mrs. Myers won high prize for man and woman. Mrs. Fred Reinke’s birthday anniversary was also celebrat ed during the evening. Mrs. Myers Honored At Baby Shower Mrs. Don Myers was honor ed with a baby shower Wed nesday, January 14 given by Mrs. Dick Posekany at her home. Spring colors of yellow and green were used in the attrac tive table decorations. The guest of honor opened her gifts and the remainder of the afternoon was spent visit ing. Those present were Mmes. Judy Lengacher, Linda Bas tuscheck, Ela Cower, Golda Martens, Simon Richard, John Gillman, Lillian Archer, Jos eph Hampton and Vee Golden. Sending gifts were Mabel Grandstr m, Jessie Savage and Edna Moffatt. The 7th grade Camp Fire Girls have completed a course in First Aid and baby sitting as prepared by the National Camp Fire Council. This course adequately pre pares the girls to baby sit and parents can leave their young sters with them with a great er feeling of security. A complete Child Care cour se is part of the Torch Bearer rank requirement. Included is feeding, ba thing, cl. thing and entertaining children. M r s. Navy Man Classmates of Miss Nikki Cruson first learned of her en gagement to Rodney Wilson during the traditional candle lighting ceremony at North rup Hall. Miss Cruson, a senior at Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Portland, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Cruson of Lyons. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ercill Wilson of Me hama. Wilson is a graduate of Stay ton Union High school and at tended Whitworth College. He is currently serving in the submarine division of the U. S. Navy. The bride-elect graduated from Stayton Union High school also. They plan a sum mer wedding. Gates Firemen Aux. Elects New Officers GATES — Gates Firemen’s Auxiliary met Tuesday morn ing, January 13 to elect new officers for the next year. Elected were Sharon Harrison as president; Wyoma Baech ler, vice president, and Arlene Taylor, secretary-treasurer. Discussion was held about landscaping around the Gates Firehall and about fund rais ing ideas for the Auxiliary at the annual Benefit Dance. Rainbow Girls Visit In Silverton Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Lewis, Jeri Jo Parker, Linda Long and Nancy Lalack attended the Ramona Rainbow Assembly Installation of officers in Sil verton Saturday evening. Verne Clarks Host Rainbow Board Mr. and Mrs. Verne Clark were hosts to the members of the Rainbow Advisory Board for Marilyn Assembly. J. C. John Roten was elected chairman, Mrs. Dorothy Peterson, secre tary, and Mrs. Janet Lewis, mother advisor for the coming year. Joe Bowes was appoint ed chairman of transportation committee, Mrs. Marilee Ly- ness will head the entertain ment committee, and Mrs. Mabel Yankus was appointed as responsible for the year- end audit.
