His appearance is sponsored by the newly formed Christian youth group here. Mr. Chase was paralyzed at the age of 20 after being stricken with polio. However, he did not let that keep him from attending college, studying for the ministry and playing basketball with the “Flying Wheels” team. He has placed first in the Salalom obstacle race and played on the U. S. basketball team which won the World Championship in the Para Olympic games in London. Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Skill ings were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hutchinson and family in Mill City for Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Skillings of Lyons were other guests. Mark Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boh Evans, former resi dents and now living in Koo tenai, Idaho, was an overnight guest on Saturday of the Bill Gabriel family. Mr. and Mrs. Bil IGabriel and family were Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mason, her parents, in Sweet Home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor and family of Idanha, a sister, were also present. Mr and Mrs Charles Chabb of Oakridge were holiday vis itors at the Floyd Swaims. Mrs. Swaim is their daughter. On Thursday they were join ed by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Swaim of Mill City for dinner. Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Bum garner and family enjoyed a trip to southern Oregon and visits witr relatives over the Thanksgiving holidays. They visited Harvey Stevenson in Phoenix, an uncle, had dinner with a cousin, Mary Yordly in Ashland, and visited with a brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bumgarner and fam ily in Grants Pass. Mrs Birdie Wilson cared for the store while they were gone. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Delker and Ron enjoyed the two-day visit of M. and Mrs. Wayne Adams, David and Diane from Kla math Falls last week. Pvt. 1/C and Mrs. Robert Shepherd and Lisa Dawn, last stationed in New Jersey, ar rived by plane recently for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Brosig. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Willis, Mrs. Shep herd’s brother and wife pick l'd them up at Portland and brought them to Gates. Pvt. 1/C Shepherd is on a pre-over seas furlough. At the Brosigs for Thanks giving dinner, in addition to the Shepherds, were Mr. and Mrs. Austin Counts, Roger and George of Klamath Falls and Orville Hayward of Mill City. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Davis of Seattle visited with his sis ter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ros Burleson on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Mr. and Mrs. Burleson tour ed the Port Townsend. Wash ington, area over the last weekend. It was their first time in the area. Mrs. Herba Scott and Miss Olive Sherman visited their brother, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sherman in Seattle, Washing ton for two weeks recently. Mr. and Mrs. Monte Carpen ter, Rodney, Lourie Ann and Timmy visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs Clay Huntington in Seattle earlier in Novemlxr. While there the two families were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Driver of Salem, Mrs. Carpenter’s brother, and all en joyed an early Thanksgiving dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Meyers and Mrs. Lang Stafford enjoy ed Thanksgiving dinner in Sisters and then viewed the Reindeer Ranch. On Sunday, dinner guests of Mrs. Stafford were Mr and Mrs. Rodney Marshall of Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bowes and Mrs. Margaret Sch'bert spent their holidays in Lincoln City enjoying the coast. Mr. Bowes visited Mrs Grant Layer in Neskowin while in the area. Lake Terrace, Washington, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Lake from Wednesday to Sunday. On Thanksgiving Mrs. Velma Ball of Mill City was another guest at the Lake home. A slumber party was given tc celebrate the 12th birthday anniversary of Lori Levon and as a farewell party for Joanna Murray at the Robert Levon home on Friday, November 28. Pizza, cake and ice cream were enjoyed by Renee Brown, Bonnie Shepard, Lynn Bodek- er, Lisa Barnhardt, Peggy Welstad, Jill Krecklow, Lori Behel, Sally Jenkins, Nancy Stange. Joanna Murray and Kay MacGregor. Mr. and Mrs. John Such of Gold Beach were Thanksgiv ing guests of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Peters. Mr. Peters is their uncle. Mr. and Mrs. John Cupps and Johnny spent Thanksgiv ing with Mrs. Mabel Devine, her mother. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Vetter and children of Pendleton visited with Mr. and Mrs. Cupps on Thursday morn ing. Mrs. Vetter and Mr. Cupps are sister and brother. John Cupps is now manager of the Gates Union Service Station. He began November 21. The station is open seven days a week from 7:30 A M. to'9:00 P.M. They then attended the Gala Stock Fann Sale near the Can adian border and brought home three registered Polled Herefords to add to their herd.
