The newly elected officers will be installed shortly after the first of the year. Mrs. Robert Jobe, noble grand, said that word had been received from the IOOF home in Portland, saying that Mrs. Evelyn Fir, “Grandmother” at the home had recently died. Mrs. Thomas said another per son would be suggested to serve in this capacity and the name presented at the next meeting. “Grandmothers” are especially remembered by the lodges choosing them. Santiam lodge members wiil collect gifts for patients at Fairview and the State hos pital for Christmas giving, rep resenting the true meaning of the holiday season. The lodge will serve the Junior banquet in the spring and Mrs. Barnhardt and Mrs. Thomas will serve on the plan ning committee. Mrs. Marie Stickney, district deputy president, reported on visiting Ideal lodge in Turner earlier, returning to her home lodge before the meeting was closed. Following the business meet ing refreshments were served in the attractively decorated dining room by Mrs. Carr and Mrs. Barnhardt. The Christmas candle sale was reported to be a success. It was decided that the Jay- ceettes would decorate the ladies room at the Jaycee hall. Linda Sanders is in charge of ordering supplies. The men will do the installing of the fixtures. Tray favors were made to be sent to Santiam Memorial hos pital for the Christmas holi days. Soon the members will be helping with the wrapping for “Toys for Tots”. The annual Christmas party will be held at the Pam Morris home December 11 at 8 p. m. Invitations will be sent out to the former members. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Round Robin Club Meets At Alban Home Monday Frances Alban entertained members of the Round Robin Pinochle club at her home Monday evening, serving des sert to the 12 ladies present before the evening of cards. Pauline Jones was a guest of the club. Evelyn Davis had “Lady Luck” on her side, winning high prize: holding 1,500 trump and 1,000 aces during the party. Agnes Carlson and Margaret Boroughs were her partners for the top hands. The Christmas party will be held at the hime of Irene Podrabsky December 15. John Kelly Has Role In South Pacific The Mill City Garden Club will have a Christmas show and sale on Friday, December 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p. m. in the building formerly occup- ied by Rose Hardware next to the Bank. There will be items on dis- play and Christmas swags, ar rangements. greens, candy and baked gosds and gift items for sale. The public is invited to at tend. There will be no ad- mission charge. Cathy Newton Marries Donald Lawrence Mr. and Merton G. Rockney of Portland are announcing the engagement f their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, to Dennis Davidson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Davidson of Mill City. Both are students at Linfield College. He is a graduate of Santiam High School and Miss Rockney is a graduate of Grant High School in Portland. The couple plan a January 17 wed ding. R/7/o Schaffer Hosts Community Bid or Bunch Club Rilla Schaffer entertained members of her Bid or Bunch Pinochle club at her home Monday evening. She used the Christmas motif in home and table decorations, serving des sert before the evening of cards. Esther Cline and Joyce Trout were guests with Mrs. Trout winning the high prize. Mary Wright won the pin ochle prize and Marlena Sev ers received low. The Christmas party will be held December 15 at the home of Mrs. Severs when members will have a gift exchange. Main topics discussed included the Christ mas Talent Show, passing of activity sheets, evaluati.n re port on past school activities, and a report of the Sheridan Regional Conference. Student Council members attending the conference were: Larry Eide. Rick Posekany, loan Cox, and Jeri Jo Parkei.
