Twelve members f the Mill City Garden Club were in Sa lem Saturday to attend the Fall meeting of Capitol District No. 17 Oregon Federation of Garden Clubs. The meeting was held at the McNary Golf Club dining room. Host clubs were The Lansing Neigh bors Garden Club and the Sa lem Garden Club both of Sal em. Mrs. R. R. Troxell of Sal em, District Director presided at the meeting. Thirteen clubs answered roll call with 112 members present besides guests. Mrs. R. Westerfield, State President of the Oregon Fed eration of Garden Clubs spoke at the morning session using "c“Cimmunication As a Med ium for Building our Flower Power” as her topic. Mrs. Westerfield is from Roseburg. Following the 12 o’clock luncheon special music was provided by the McNary High landers from McNary High School. State Representative Paul A. Hanneman, Litter Committee Chairman was the afternoon speaker. Mrs. F. Layman from “The Nutcracker” H.bby Shop in Salem gave a craft demonstra tion. Mike Finks Honored On 50th Wedding Date LYONS—Over 200 guests signed the guest book Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Mike Fink were honored on their golden wedding anniversary which was held at St. Patrick’s hall. The Finks were married Novemlier 4 in Oregon City. All their living sisters and brothers, with the exception of a sister in North Dakota and a sister in California at tended. Assisting in serving were Mmes. Ellen Dougherty, Grace Sandberg, Lena Dough erty, Sherry Mainio, Rosemary Rauscher, Vergene Dougherty, Clara Doll, Madeline and Gen- eire Lachner, Hattie Gerard, Millie Jungwirth, Joan Silber nagel, Carol Sandberg and Marian Frichtl. The nieces of both Mr. and Mrs. Fink were in charge of all the arrange- ments. Guests were present from Portland, Salem, Aberdeen, Wn., .Jefferson, Stayton. New berg and Lyons. Mrs. Jake (Ella) Silbernagel, bridesmaid for her sister and Clarence Dougherty both were present. Mrs. Fink (Mary Dougherty) was barn in Iowa and Mr. Fink was born in South Da- kota. Heads Cancer Society Marilyn Chapter No. 145 OES will meet on Monday ev- ening November 10 at 8 o’clock Mrs. Grace Johnson of Sal em, a member of the Estarl fund committee of the Grand Chapter of Oregon will make her official visit. A silent auction will be held with the proceeds to go to the Home Endowment fund. Me- bers attending are asked to bring items for the auction. Conferring of degrees will be exemplified and a 25 year pin presented ba member. Serving on the refreshmen1 committee will be Mrs. Charles Kelly, chairman. Mrs. Walter Brisbin and Mrs. Hugh John ston.
