Visit Cannery The third grade visited a can nery in Salem on September 30. They saw the processing of whole and sliced beets. The children particularly enjoyed watching the preparation of corn. This was being sliced from the cob to be frozen in TV dinners or canned in cream styie corn. Later they saw the corn husks being ground into silage. The thousands of cans stacked in the warehouse caus ed many comments. In spite of the inclement weather the children had a re warding trip. Win First Home Tilt Calvary Luthern Church Eleven Lions club members got out and did their “thing” for society on a recent Monday night. They picked up this huge pile of litter within the city limits on “beautiful” highway 22 in Mill City. Pictured above from left to right are Mel Rambo, George Long, chair man of the drive, Fred Krecklow, president of the Mill City Lions club and Burton Boroughs. And from the “quality” of the litter, don’t try to blame it all on the young people. Parents first shoud be taught to be a ittle more neat in their habits, then maybe we could expect more from our young folks.—The Mill City En terprise photo.
