The young women’s group decided to have just the one meeting this month with regu lar meetings resuming in Sep tember. The first meeting will be at the home of Penny Traw on September 4. The Silverton Jayceettes have been invited Io meet with the club here on October 2, the meeting to be held at the home of Shirley Bigness. Theme for the evening will be "Taste and Tell' with the en tire club helping with the re freshments. There will be a “potluck” work party at the .laycee hall on September 12 and members urge a good turnout. The Jayceettes have been op erating their sno-cone machine this summer, last week at Stewart’s Grocery and schedul ed to run again at the Hilltop Market Saturday, August 30. Following the Thursday business meeting the hostess served refreshments. The Ixxige received a book from the Sovereign Granfi Lodge of the history of the Order, Extra copies may be purchased by the members. The Home Board has an nounced a Harvest Festival for the Home and are asking all members to participate with donations of either goods or cash equivalent. Trucks will be dispatched to pick up the offering on October 25th. The Trustees have been in structed to investigate a lock ing phone to protect it from misuse of long distance calls and to insure its continuing availability for the convenience of the lodge members. Carmen Barnhardt reported <in the Rebekah IOOF Float entered in the Stayton Bean Festival. The float didn’t win a ribbon but did receive a very warm recepti.n. The welcoming committee was appointed for the Presi dent’s Official visit on Sep tember 3rd. They will be Ada Plymale, Otto Koeneke and Margaret Anderson. Margaret Anderson, a former member of Naomi No. 14 of Hot Springs, South Dakota was welcomed as a new mem ber of Santiam lodge by Trans fer. Visiting Beulah Rebekah Lodge in Albany for the Presi dent’s official visit were D.D.P. Marie Stickney, Ida Fleetwood and Mildred Carr. come the bride of Donald L. Cree on August 15. Verne Clark and Maude Braden were married August 10, 1919 in Smith County Kan sas. They have lived in the Mill City area for 40 years. They have two sons, Francis Clark of Rural Salem and Her- schel Clark of Stayton who with their wives hasted the reception, They have five granddaughters. Lana, Verna and Dena Clark, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clark passed the guest book. The girls wore sheer yellow dresses.
