Accidents DETROIT Traffic Run High In May Oregon traffic accidents kil led 52 people during May, ac IDANHA cording to preliminary figures By Boots Champion Myrna Quillin was released from a Salem hospital Friday and is now recuperating at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stephen. Idanha. Mrs. Quillin was involved in a car accident May 30th. The car left the highway and plung ed down a 40 foot embankment a mile and a half east of De troit. Mrs. Quillin suffered ex tensive injuries including a compound fracture of the right arm which is now in a cast. Voters in Idanha Rural Fire Protection District approved a budget Monday by a vote of 18-2. The total budget is $6,126, and $2,739 is outside the 6 per cent limitation. James Drago of Marion Forks underwent an appendec tomy, Thursday at a Salem hospital. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Drago. Mrs. Phyllis Hill (Postmast er) accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brosig as far as Idahq Falls for a weeks visit with relatives. She plans to return home Saturday. The Brosig’s traveled on to Yellowstone Na- tlodnal Park where they plan to spend several days before moving on to other points of interest. Jay B. Brown, a student min ister from the Northwestern Christian College at Eugene, who has been conducting ser vices here at the Detroit Com munity Christian Church, de livered his last sermon here Sunday. A spokesman for the church said another student minister from the college will conduct services beginning Sunday. Morning worship is scheduled at 11:00 A. M. Mrs. Winifred Murphy of De troit announced this week that she has sold her home on Detroit Ave.: to Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Whittaker of Silverton Mr. Whittaker is retired. The couple twn their home at Sil verton and plan to use the Murphv home here as a sum mer home. Mrs. Murphy who has resided here for a number of years plans to visit relatives in the east. She plans to leave this week. Visiting here this week at the home of Irene Stout are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Draeger of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Draeg er and Mrs. Stout are old time friends their relationship going back to when they both attend ed the same school in Minnea- released by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Last year, 50 people died in May ciashes. The department reportd that traffic deaths for the first five months of 1969 totaled 241— the same number as had been killed at that time last year.
