There was a car accident on Sunday at 6:15 p. m. in front of the Travelers Cafe on High way 22 in Gates. Involved in the accident were the driver Sylvester L. Silbernagel, and his wife Mrs. Silbernagel, Rt. 1, SciJ, in a 1964 Chev. In the other car, the driver was Ed- I gar Hoard, with wife and two children, 260 12th Street, Sal- em, driving a ’53 Chev. No one was seriously injured. Hoard was cited for failure to drive on the right side of the road. | Teresa and Toni Roten both had tonsilectomies at Santiam I Memorial hospital last Thurs- day. Fred Stone is in the St. I Vincent hospital in Portland for treatment again. It was Iielieved that he had a heart attack. Kenneth and Lorraine Kent and their nephew Brian Kent have recently moved to Gates from Idanha. Son-in-law and daughter, John and Sharon Barnard and children from Cascadia visited with them ov er the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Gudne Gestson received word that Kudne’s brother, Joe Gestson passed I away on March 23 at Edinburg, North Dakota. Myrtle Gestson went to the Santiam Memorial Hospital in Stayton on Monday with a bad cold. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lyons and five children from Bremerton, Washington and Carolyn Bre- jcha and Dawn Risner of Beav erton were all week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Turn- idge. Last Monday and Tuesday, Mrs. Velma Carey accompanied cooks from Mari-Linn and Stayton to the state convention of the Oregon School Food Service Association held at Eugene. This was the 19th an nual meeting to be held. Week-end guests of Ixirraine Mills were her daughter Nelda Crammer of Seattle, her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Mills of Stayton, and another son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mills and son Shawn of Salem. Lola Henness picked up her Granddaughter, Terry Henness in Albany on Sunday and they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Henness and family in Beaver ton from Sunday until Tuesday Terry spent the rest of the week in Gates with her Grand mother, Lola Henness. Glenn Henness came home on Friday and spent the week-end. as he is still working at the coast during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Henness came on Sun day and picked up their daugh ter Terry to take her back home to Albany with them. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wilson of Eugene spent their spring vacation from college at the home of Ronald’s grandpar ents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wil son last week. They visited Mrs. Harold Wilson’s sister, Ruth Flint, at the Salem Me morial Hospital on Sunday. On the return trip home they stopped to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carey and fam ily in Stayton. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Henness and children Gary and Susan picked up Kandee at Oregon State in Corvallis last Wednes day, from there they went to Waldport where they stayed until Friday. They reported I that the weather was very nice there. Kandee Henness and Peggy Cooper of Mill City are skiing at Mt. Bachelor in Bend for a couple days. Mrs. Lang Stafford was vis ited by her niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. V. D. Gray of Klamath Falls on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Gray visited with her sister Hazel Devine and other relatives also while in Gates. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rags dale and Mrs. Nat Wills of Mill City were recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Lang Stafford. The two grandsons have been visit ing at the Johnson home. The group toured the city and visit ed the TV studio at station KPIC where Jerald Hudgins is employed as operational direc tor.
