Juanita Morgan, student nurse, spent the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Morgan. She is now taking continued training at the Oregon State hospital in Salem. Pvt. E2 John Morgan, who is stationed at Ft. Ord was also able to spend the lioliday here with his parents and sister. Mrs. Edith Howell returned Mr. and Mrs. Roger Penrose, Keith and Kenneth returned over the week-end from a two weeks vacation trip to Calif ornia. They spent Christmas week in Oakland with Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Penrose and New Year’s week they visited with Mrs. Penrose’ mother and sis ter, Mrs. Q. L. Wilson and Melinda at Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peek who moved here recently from Palm Springs, Calif., said they had a pleasant surprise when they discovered that Pete Adair, also fairly new to the area, had known Mrs. Peek’s father some 40 years ago in Michigan. The Peeks and the Adairs are members of the Newcomers Club here. recently from Washington where she visited with her father, Gene Brown at Ever ett and her mother Elsie Brown at Monroe. Following her return she received word of the death of her father who was 96. He had been in poor health for several months. She will be interviewed there for an acountant’s position. Miss Stewart is a senior at the University of Portland. She has had several job offers but is particularly interested in the Denver area. Roger Lunsford, Statesman delivery boy on the Linn coun ty side of town, got a respite from his newsboy duty but didn’t get too much enjoyment from the holiday. He under went an appendectomy the day after Christmas and is getting along fine. Mrs. MacGregor had dishes of tempting homemade candy on the tables with cal ories forgotten for the evening. Guests were Jessie Bodeker and Esther Challender with Mrs. Bodeker winning the pin ochle prize. Receiving low was Marilynn Drynan with Mrs. MacGregor having the high score but graciously giving the prize to the next high winner, Mrs. Carlson. The next party will be at the home of Irene Podrabsky on January 20. Officers for the new year were elected with Mrs. Dry nan to serve as president and Mabel Yankus, secretary-treas urer.
