Mrs. Laura Neal was named win ner. Conrad Lee’s home was second and John McClurg third. The contest was spon sored by the city council. Hon orable mention in the contest were homes of Mrs. Effie An derson, Joseph McDougall and Elton Kramer. Programs were presented at Lyons United Methodist church Saturday ev ening, December 21. Canyon Baptist and Santiam Chapel, Sunday evening, December 22. Christmas morning Mass was held at St. Patrick’s parish while Christmas day found the usual family gatherings and dinnerse with guests in and out of town. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Johnston and family were guests at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sutherland and daughter, Julie at Port Orchid, Wn. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Haw thorne were guests at the home of Don Ventre in Eu gene. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Burmest- er were guests at the home of his father, Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Burmester at Scio. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson and Brenda were guests at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Taylor and children in Eugene. Mrs. Johnson, who was called to Ashland Monday when her mother, Mrs. Carrie Osburn fell and broke a hip, Joined them for dinner. James Hollingshead spent several days over the Christ man holiday in Salem at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. James Erickson and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Thiel from North Bend are guests at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walton and daughters Wendee and Sally. They all were dinner guests at the home of Mr. Walton’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Salter and family. Mrs. Ben Walton, who is visiting here from North Bend was also a guest.
