10—The MUI City Enterprise, Thursday, January 2,1969 Santiam Ripples 1969 Hunting and Fishing Licenses By Karen Oliver A Student Council meeting was held Tuesday, December Now Available at All Vendors 17. An activity sheet for a free-throw contest, sponsored by the Freshman class was ac cepted. This contest will be held during the noon hour on January 6-8. For 25c the boys will be able to win a dollar’s worth of merchandise by mak ing seven out of seven free- throws. The girls will have to make four out of seven. A Santiam button sale, sponsor ed by the Junior class, was also passed. These buttons will be sold for 35. Another activity sheet, submitted by Pep Club to sell cakes, cookies, and candies, was passed. Parlia mentary procedure was dis cussed. A serpentine rally be fore the Christmas tournament The Oregon Game Commis sion reminded hunters and fishermen today that their 1968 licenses expire on Decem ber 31, and that 1969 licenses must be in possession begin ning New Year’s day, Janu- on Friday was discussed. The members decided not to have one because of the weather. Representative from Ore gon colleges visited the high seiiool Wednesday, December 18. A general talk was given concerning the financial aid available to students entering college, and the advantages of each of the individual schools throughout the State of Ore gon. The Juniors and Seniors then attended individual dis cussion groups. These groups were headed by representa tives from OTI, OCE and one from the state colleges. A “Holiday Happening” was held Friday during 6th and 7th periods. This consisted of re creation games, a dance, and refreshments. It was sponsored by the Sophomore class, which put a lot of work into making the event a success. The last day of the Pep Club Christmas Food and Fun Fair was held Saturday, De cember 21. Santa Claus was present and movies were shown for children. Food for the fair was made by the Pep club members with aid of many of the women in the ommunity. A lot of work was put into this sale to make it the success that it was. ary 1. The documents are available at all license dealers and at the Commission’s Portland head quarters. Hunters are advised that a revised hunting fee schedule adopted by the last legislative assembly, will be in effect this c ming year. Outdoorsmen may recall that anglers receiv ed a boost in license fees in 1968. The new fee for the resident hunting license is $5.00, an in crease of $1.00 from last j'ear. The cost of the combination hunting and fishing license is $10.00, which is $1.00 less than if each document is pur- purchased separately. To hunt big game animals in 1969, hunters will pay a fee of $10.00 for an elk tag and $2.00 for a deer tag. Angling license fees remain the same as 1968. The resident season license is $6.00. Vaca tion anglers may purchase a $7 license good for a period of 10 days and residents and non residents alike may fish at a flat rate of $1.50 a day. Anglers who fish for salmon and steel head must also have in posses sion a salmon-steelhead license costing $1.00. Juveniles from 14 through 17 may hunt or fish on the juv enile licenses costing $2.00 each. However, all hunters, re gardless of age, must have the regular adult hunting licenses and tags to hunt big game ani mals. ¡ We’ve come to bring you joy for the new year- May our warm friendly friendship continue.
