M— Doc tor (Lt. Co.) James R. Prine, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence M. Prine of Richland, Tex., is a member of a unit that has earned the U. S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Doctor Prine, a veterinary pathologist with the 6571st Aeromedical Research Labora tory at Holloman AFB, N.M., will wear the distinctive ser vice ribbon to mark his af filiation with the unit. Unit personnel were cited for their accomplished research projects which resulted in re ducing risk and increasing man’s prospect of survival in aerospace and related unusual environments. The laboratory is involved in a number of re search programs for the U. S. space effort to see how man can survive in a space envlr- oment. The doctor, a graduate of Corsicana (Tex.) High School, received his D.V.M. degree in 1951 from Texas A & M Un iversity. His wife, Marjory, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Teeters of Mehama, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Manon were in Salem over the holi day at the home of their son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parks and family. A feature of the afternoon was the appearance of Jeffrey Wel- stad, 12-year-old san of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Welstad, who is pcs- ter-boy for Linn and Benton Counties. Mrs. Welstad show ed an impressive film dealing with a victim of the affliction. In charge of the event was Mrs. Glen Cummings, presi dent of the club, assisted by Mrs. Harry Mason, secretary. Mrs. Alex Burrell arranged the effective serving-table and many small holly-centered tab les about the large room of the Fellowship Hall with the assistance of Elaine Russell, Agnes Carleson, and others. Heading the kitchen committee was Mrs. John Swan. Presiding at the coffee and tea urns during the afternoon hours were Mrs. C. E. Rogers, Mrs. O. K. DeWittt, Mrs. J. C. Kimmel, Mrs. Marie Tolbert, and Mrs. Herbert A. Schroeder. Official “greeter” at the door was Mrs. Charles Kelly. Guests were presented with a sprig of holly as a corsage. Mrs. Welstad answered ques tions after showing of the film, and distributed pamphlets deal ing with Muscular Dystrophy. The family was appreciative of the help offered through spon soring of the tea. The Sabers were led by Frank La Joy with 13 points and Lynn Henkel and Gary Graham, with nine and eight jxrints respectively. Leading the losers effort were Joe Hince with 12 and Ron John son with nine points. Two factors in the Serra win were the free throw percent ages and the offensive rebound ing. The Sabers percentage from the line was .820 as com pared with the Wolverines .500. The Sabers also dominated their offensive rebounding in the entire second half, as they jumped out and held a lead from a 26-26 half - time score.
