Mrs. Lawrence Smith won first low net with a 32 and Mrs. Eugene Spaniol winning second low net with a 34. Class A winner was Mrs. Rudy Tohl with 35; Class B, Mrs. Vernon Choate, 41 and Class C, Mrs. Harold Pendle ton with 39. Rev. Robert Ixithrope officiated at the 3 o’clock ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gcwn of white satin enhanced with lace trim. A crown of lace and satin held her illusion veil and she carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums and white gladioli. Miss Faye LaMunyan of Mill City was maid of honor and Miss Barbara Roten and and Miss Vicki Horn, sister of | the bride, both of Lyons, were bridesmaids, and all wore yel low dresses. Jammle Qually of Mill City was flower girl and David Larimer, ring bearer. Robert Sanderman of Portland acted as best man and ushers were Dennis Morley of Silverton and Dennis Horn of Lyons, brother of the bride, who also lighted the candles. A reception followed at the Mari-Linn school, with Mrs. Beulah Luhn from Longview, Wn., cutting and serving the cake. Mrs. Arthur Richter of Mill City presided at the punch i»wl and Mrs. Roy Lambert served the coffee. Taking care of the gifts was Miss Brenda Johnson and in charge of the guest book was Miss Sherry LaMunyan . Kellys Attend 2 Days Postmaster Events The Charles Kellys attended two Postmasters’ gatherings this last week-end. Saturday evening, Sept. 7, they drove to Albany to be present at a ban quet and business session of the Executive Board of the Oregon Chapter of NAPUS (Na tional Association of Postmas ters of the United States). Kel ly was recently elected as Fourth Vice-president of the group. On Sunday the Kellys assist ed in hosting an all-day picnic at Fishermen’s Bend for the Tri-County (Linn, Polk, and Yamhill) group of Postmasters, their wives, husbands, and fam ilies. About 50 people attended, and the weather cooperated beautifully. Many had never been in that particular park Crawford-Shaw Family before. The day started with a pot luck dinner and the afternoon was spent visiting and reminis cing as some members of the group had not been together for a time. Going from Mill City were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shaw and others attending were John Shaw, former Mill City resi dent now living in Los Angel es, Ray Crawford, Santa Ana, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Craw ford, Stayton, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Crawford, Montesano, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hennifer and two children of Bremerton, Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert Thompson and three child ren of Whidby Island, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Allen and son of Port Orchard and Mrs. Leonard Johnson of Hoquiam, Wash. Marilyn Chapter OES Resumes Fall Meetings Marilyn Chapter No. 145 O.E.S. resumed its meetings after the summer vacation on Monday evening, starting with a 6:30 potluck supper. Maud Clark, worthy matron and Verne Clark, worthy pa tron presided. Introduced and escorted to the East was Edward Homs- berger, committee member of the Home Endowement Fund. He was making his official vis it here and gave an interesting and instructive talk on the Masonic and Eastern Star Home. Gordette Garton reported on the 79th annual session cf the Grand Chapter Order of East ern Star which was held at the Memorial Coliseum in Port land in June. There will be a school of in struction here on October 28, with a special meeting to be called. Following Monday evenings business meeting refreshments were served by the line offic ers, Maud Clark, Nina Hoover, Marie Burrell and Marilee Lyn- ess. They also provided the at tractive decorations. The purpose of the as sembly was to acquaint the students with some of the basic rules of the school and to in troduce them to the teachers. Following the assembly 12-15 classes were held in order for the students to try out their new schedules. Class meetings were held Fri day during the regularly sched uled activity i>eriod. The Fresh men class chose their officers for this year. Those chosen are: President. Dan Cox; Vice- President John Ruby; Secre tary. Debbie Barnhardt; Trea surer. Jackie Clark: and Sar geant of Arms. David Harlen. The other three classes spent the hour setting their class dues and planning money mak ing projects for the coming year. Golliet of Mehama is announcing the en gagement of her daughter, Miss Harriet Golliet to Ensign Ben Boots, United States Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boots of Great Falls, Montana. The young couple plan a December 21 wedding. Miss Golliet is a graduate of Stay t n Unitn High school and is now attending the Universi ty of Oregon. Ensign Boots graduated from Hillsboro High school and the University of Oregon. He is now taking avia tors training from the Navy in Pensacola. Florida. Detroit Youth Group Has Newport Outing DETROIT—The Youth group of the Detroit Community Christian Church, joined by the Idanha Community Chu r c h Youth Group spent Friday evening to Sunday afternoon at Newport.
