Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Berry

brother and sister-in-law, Mr.

the week, the Berrys took
their son Robert to Ft. Lewis,
Wash., where he left for Viet­
nam.
Mrs. Vine Matheny return­
ed to Portland Saturday fol­
lowing a two weeks visit at
the home of her brother-in-
law and sister, the James
Swans. Mrs. Matheny made
the trip down and back with
her son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Neisz, also
of Portland, who traveled
through eastern Oregon and
California while she was in
Mill City.

The Coles were returning

ents. Mrs. Cole’s father, Alan
Olds, who is well-known here,
is recovering from major sur­
gery. Accompanying the fam­
ily back to Bellingham as the
guest of Marilyn Cole was
Nancy Lalack whose mother,
Mrs. Joe Lalack, plans to
drive up after her this week­
end.

ternoon.

Bicycle Safety
Course at Detroit
Is Completed
DETROIT—A bicycle safe­
ty course was held as part of
the summer recreation pro­
gram recently at Detroit
school. Seventeen children
were enrolled and have suc­
cessfully
completed
the
course. The children were in­
structed on safe riding habits
and about the Oregon State
Laws governing the riding of
bicycles. Reading materials
were given to the children to
study, and movies about bi­
cycle safety were shonw.
Following tests covering
the reading material the
children had to show their
skill and understanding of the
rules of the i-oad by riding
their bicycles over an ob­
stacle course.
They were awarded with
certificates upon completion
of the course.
More activities and art pro­
jects are planned for the sum­
mer program. Attendance has
been good so far.
