Mr. Phillips homecoming was made especially pleasant as some of the men from the Newcomers club put the sid ing on an addition to his house which he had started before the accident. The paint ing was all done inside by Mrs. Phillips and others and it was really an overwhelm ing surprise for him. Adding to his enjoyment is the fact that his daughter and family have been here from California. When there is some thing before us about which a decision should be made and we delay coming to grips with it, we may find ourselves get ting tense and anxious. To learn to make decisions, to practice making them as quickly as possible—once we have a clear-cut idea of what it is that t’ems to us to be the best course — this is to free ourselves. ENVELOPES ENCLOSURES BUSINESS CARDS BOOKLETS ACCOUNTING FORMS RULED FORMS INVOICES The Mill City Enterprise Attending the Vernonia Friendship Jamboree last weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mason and their son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Mason of Eu gene. They visited in Vernon ia with Mr. and Mrs. George Aaris, brother-in-law and sis ter of Mrs. Herman Mason, and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. Don Reid and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Flood and children from Portland, and a grand- neice, Mrs. Harold Reed and husband and son of Albany. The Masons received a very pleasant surprise at the Aaris home in the form of a long time friend, Mrs. Nona Davies of St. Helens, whom they hadn’t seen for 20 years. The Masons found much of interest in Vernonia. The town, once a place of 5000 population until the mill clos ed several years ago, sits back in the mountains like Mill City with a population now of around 1600, they said. Vernonia, the Masons re ported, is building up again anti expects some big changes in a few years. The town now supports good roads, a bank, schools, churches, supermark ets. a variety store and a mus eum. The townspeople, in a community project, have un dertaken the building of a swimming pool and other re creational facilities along the river. Mr. and Mrs. Mason were much impressed with the community spirit of the town and feel other towns could profit from Vernonia’s example.
