For Primitive Area
To Start July I
DETROIT—Trail mainten
ance in the primitive area is
expected to begin about July
1st. Completion of the new
section of the Sky Line Trail
through the area is expected
by late summer. Only the mid
dle section of the trail be
tween Minto Pass and San-
tiam Pass and a short section
just North of the Santiam
Pass remains to be done.
Also scheduled for this sum
mer, the Detroit District plans
to complete under contract a
short section of road and a
parking area for 35 to 40
cars where the trail resumes
at Santiam Pass.
Light snow conditions in
the Mt. Jefferson Primitive
Area indicate the popular
Eight Lake Basin and Jeffer
son Park areas may be acces
sible a week or ten days ear
ly this year.
