Contest games furnished en tertainment for the evening and the color scheme of lav- endar, pink and white was used. Refreshments were serv ed by the hostesses later in the evening. Those attending were Ger aldine Wright, Virginia Lank ins, Diane Metteer, Rita Whit ney, Rosie Whitney, Marge Ruby, Shirley Stone, Mrs. Bill Whitney and Mrs. Roy Loch rem. Ruth Tohl entertained mem bers of the Round Robin pin ochle club at her home Mon day evening and it was an ex citing night for several of the members. The unusual 1500 trump hand was held twice during the evening; in fact one time right after the other. Frances Alban and Ruth Tohl first held the trumps and then Agr.es Carlson and Wilma Moore held them. Frances Alban won the high prize with Marie Stewart re ceiving both low and pinochle. Program of the afternoon was “Using Terralite in the home and garden”, by Mrs. Otto Weidman and Mrs. Glen Jul ian, Mrs. Weidman also gave an interesting talk on the cul ture and care of Zinnias. Each member brought their origin al cover for the year book. They were judged and winn ing prizes were Kathy Neal first and Mrs. Charles Cruson second. Mrs. Arthur Olmstead and Mrs. Gladys Nygaard won door prizes. Plans were made for their plant and food sale, to be held at the Hiatt building, 1311 main street on the corn er of 13th and main, on May 8, from 10 to 4:30 p. m. Com mittees in charge will be, food. State Federation The Mill City Woman’s club will decorate one of the lunch eon tables at the spring meet ing of the State Federation of Women’s clubs at the Mar ion Motel Hotel in Salem. Joining other women at a luncheon meeting in Salem last week to discuss plans for the event were Mrs. Cyril Aicher, Mrs. O. K. DeWitt, Mrs. Alex Burrel, Mrs. Harry Masor. and Mrs. John Swan. Lyons Pre-School Mothers to Have Night Out The Lyons Pre-school Moth ers will have a “night out” on Friday evening April 26, according to Mrs. Delores Stavang. All past, present and those that will be pre-school moth ers next fall, are invited to attend. The women are ask ed to meet at Mari-Linn school at 6:30 and will then go to a Salem restuarant for dinner. Anyone wishing more infor mation on the dinner may call Mrs. Stavang at 859-2726; Mrs. Jean Owens, the teach er, at 859-2280 or Mrs. Darlene Franklin at 859-2474. The next regular meeting of the group will be May 13 at Mari-Linn school at 7:30. All those having pre-schoolers next year are particularly ur ged to attend. Officers will be elected at that time. their Golden wedding anniver sary. The event was arranged by the couple’s children and fam ilies assisted by the Women of the church. Their children include Mr. and Mrs. Fritz (Myrtice) Mor rison of Wenatchee, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Dena) Goupil of San Jose, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow (Phyllis) Nealy of Grants Pass, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Bickel (Doris Jones) of Fort Lauderale, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Jones of Hebo. The honored counle also had nine grand children present for the oc casion. Mrs. Bickel was un able to be present for the day but sent greetings to her par ents and an arrangement of golden hued flowers. The serving table was cen tered with a three tiered an niversary cake flanked by bouquets of white and gold chrysanthemums and golden candles. On display at the reception was the bridal gown worn by Mrs. Jones, it was made of white silk trimmed with sil ver lace. Also displaved were pictures taken in earlier days. Ferd Jones and Ada Lathm were married April 5, 1918 at the United Brethren Church at Hazel Green. Oregon. They met while attending Philo math college and just one month after the wedding Mr. Jones was sent with World War I troops to France. His first job was at Gates where he was principal of the schools from 1923 until 1937. He took an administrative post at Gold Hill in 1944. In 1951 he took the position of Citv recorder at Gold Hill, a position he still holds. The counle is active in many community and church af fairs.
