according to John Woodcock,
presiding minister.
Commenting on the import­
ance of the event Woodcock
said: “This occasion will be
observed world wide by more
than 25,000 congregations of
Jehovah’s Witnesses, with an
expected attendance of over
twc million observers.”
An invitation is extended to
all in the community to at­
tend the Memorial celebra­
tion. All meetings of Jeho­
vah’s Witnesses are free and
open to the public.
Club, in their annual scholar­
ship drive will be held May
4th at 7:30 p. m. in the elem­
entary schools gym. Rehear-
sels are scheduled for Maj'
3rd at 7:30 p. m.
Anyone wishing to partici­
pate in the program is asked
to please contact Mrs. Lynn
Williamson co-ordinator by
calling 854-3426. Donations
and proceeds from the pro­
gram will be added to the
scholarship fund.
Several prizes will be a-
warded throughout the even­
ings program.
Stayton was awarded the
1968 Oregon Junior Baseball
Association State Tournament
that will be held August 8-11
according to an announcement
made today by Dean Gray,
President of the Oregon Jun­
ior Baseball Association.
Sixty teams took part in the
state program last year for
boys 16 and under. Mayfair
Market of Eugene was the
state champion winning top
honors from the field of 12
that played in the state tour­
nament.

NOTICE is hereby given that a meeting of the governing body of Mari-Linn School District No. 29-J of Linn and Mar­
ion County, State of Oregon, will be held at Mari-Linn School on the 15 day of April, 1968 at 8:00 P. M. o’clock for the pur­
pose of discussing with interested persons the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1968 and ending June 30, 1969,
hereinafter set forth.
The budget was prepared on a basis of accounting consistent with that used in the preceding year. Major accounting
changes, if any, and their effect on the budget are set forth in an accompanying statement.
A copy of the budget document is available for inspection at Clerk’s home between the hours of 5:00 P. M. and 8:00
P. M. The budget document may be obtained for $2.00, or parts of it may be obtained for 10c per sheet.

Lyons Library Board
Learns of New Rules
It was decided to move win­
dows on the south end for
more shelf room.
At present the library has
2,200 books on shelves with
an added 350 in boxes. Recent­
ly the city purchased the new
building from the former
Simpson Union and as yet
thev have been unable to sell
the old building which is
needed to maintain the li­
brary. The city has authorized
all money from its revenue
from State Cigarette tax fund
for the library.
