Roger Mink has organized 7th and 8th grade games during Wednesday afternoon physi cal education classes. Four beys play on each team. Class members referee games be tween the 8 teams. Games for 5th through 7th grades start at 12:30 on Fri day afternoons. The 8 teams play games of 6-minute quar ters. Referees are boys from the upper grades. Herb Bas- tuscheck, Wallace Hovey, and Leo Poole oversee the games. Good sportsmanship is en couraged by special rules. If teams or spectators yell at the referees, the opposite team receives 2 points and the ball. Girls in grades 5 and 6 have the option of watching the games or participating in special programs conducted by Mrs. Elaine Main. The first activity was a mountain hike and marshmallow roast. Girls have learned to mani cure nails and have visited Mrs. Betty Klutke’s Studio of Hair Design to study hair care and styling. A basketball workshop taught how to keep statistics and referee. Last Friday’s cooking experiment gave the girls practice plan ning, purchasing, and prepar ing food. Miss Patty Beets has taught 7th and 8th grade girls to make large crepe paper flowers. Practice with cook ing is planned for the future. When asked about the val ue of the special programs, fifth-grader Chris Duggan said “When we get in high school, we want to learn a lot of sports. Basketball is a lot of people’s favorite sport and I think it is a good one to learn. That’s why I think the intra mural program is good.” PINK AND BLUE DEPARTMENT Ada’s Needle Shop DODGE BOYS SPECIALS Teague Motors Dodge USED CAR SPECIALS 1958 Chev. 4 dr. . . 1960 Rambler American You can always trust in our experience!
