The Gunns were residents of Cal ifornia before moving to Lyons. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Roye were Friday visitors in Falls City. They were guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs. R. A. Feenstra. Enroute they were dinner guests at the home of their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lad Pesek In Salem. The occassion honored the birthday anniversary of their granddaughter, Janell. Mrs. Leo Cruson spent the week end at Riderwood, Washington at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Earl White, who were cele brating their 60th wedding anniversary. Musicial Missionary concert, the Vesper band, scheduled to be held at the Lyons Meth odist church Sunday, Feb- tuary 11, was postponed until Sunday February 18. It will be held on that date at 4 p. m. The public is invited to at tend. Friends in Lyons received word of the death of James L. Chamberlain of Salem, a long time resident of Lyons. He passed away Friday night February 9, at the age of 87. Services will be held Wednes day Feb. 14 from Virgil T. Golden mortuary at 10:30 a. m. Interment at Lone Oak cemetery in Stayton. Mr. and Mrs. James Hol lingshead were in Salem Mon day to attend funeral services for her brother Harland Brock of Salem who passed away Thursday, February 8 at Reno, Nevada, of a heart attack. Services were held at First Presbyterian Church at 10:3C a. m. with interment at Belcrest Memorial Park. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh John ston and sons were Sunday guests at the home of his sis ter and family Mr. and Mrs. Claire Humphries at Myrtle Creek. The Lyons Women’s club went to Fairview Home in Salem February 14 to hostess a party at Gaines Cottage. It was a Valentine and birthday party for girls with birthdays in January, February and March. There are about 85 girls in the cottage Miss Sirpa Utrianinen, ex change student from Finland who is making her home with the Utah Crowson family in Stayton and attending Stay ton Union High, as a senior will be guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Mari- Linn PTC Thursday night, February 15. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Beau- mont are announcing the birth of a son born Thursday, February 8 at Santiam Me morial hospital in Stayton. He was greeted at home by two brothers. Mrs. Hazel Lewis and daughter, Miss Beulah were Sunday guests in Corvallis with her daughter, Miss Lu cille Lewis. They enjoyed a trip to Alsea where they were dinner guests. The occasion honored the birthday anniver sary of Beulah. Bev. and Mrs. R. A. Feen stra were dinner guests Sun day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Roye. Rev. Feen stra gave the Sunday morn ing sermon at the Lyons Methodist church. He is a former pastor of the church here and is now pastor of the Falls City Methodist church. He is 85 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mor gan spent Wednesday and Thursday in Milwaukie with their daughter Miss May Ag nes Morgan who is employed there. The occassion honored the birthday anniversary of Morgan. Wednesday evening dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Allen were his cousin and wife Mr. and Mrs. Willard Green from Walport. Spending several days the last of the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kimery and son Jerry were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ogden from Il waco, Washington. Mrs. Og den will be remembered as Mrs. Mabel Spa, a former Lyons resident. The February meeting of the Lyons Extension Unit was held Thursday 8, at the Lyons Methodist church beginning at 10 a. m. Mrs. Leoa Johnson spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Portland attending a Post Masters work shop held at the Hilton Hotel. The fourth meeting of Sew ing with Knitts was held at the Mari-Linn school house Monday evening, February 5, at 7 p. m. Their next and last meeting will be held at the school house on Monday even ing March 4, at 7 p. m.
