Other elections and appoint ments were also made at the meeting presided over by Blanche Syverson. Plans were made for the March 6 meeting when the president of the Rebekah As- sembly of Oregon will pay her official visit. Appointed to serve on the finance committee were Ada Plymale, Mildred Carr and Juanita Emmerson; Publicity, Antonia Thomas and Ann Primeau; Floral, Mildred Carr, Antonia Thomas and Alta Bodeker; Welcome, Ida Fleet wood, Lettie Swan and Juani ta Emmerson. Carmen Barnhardt was elected drill captain and An tonia Thomas, degree captain. Trustees elected were Ann Primeau for a three year term; Carmen Barnhardt for a two year term to fill the va cancy created when Frances McCarley moved from the city. „ . Ann Primeau was installed as recording secretary by Car men Barnhardt acting as the installing officer. Daisy Geddes was again back to lodge after an absence of almost seven months due to illness. Irene Lewin, retiring noble grand presented each of her officers for the past year at tractive gifts of paper weights which she had made. Refreshments were served later in the evening from tables beautifully decorated in the Valentine motif by Blanche Syverson. Santiam Hospital Auxiliary to Have Luncheon Thursday The Santiam Memorial Hos pital Auxiliary will have their annual luncheon Thursday, February 15 at 12:30 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Stayton. The Church is locat ed at the corner of Fern Ridge Road and First Avenue. There will be installation of officers, various awards giv en, reports and a talk by hos pital board chairman, Don Moffatt. The Regis Girls Chorus will furnish the entertainment. The luncheon is open to the interested public and tickets may be purchased at the door or Mill City residents may se cure them from Mrs. J. C. Kimmel or Mrs. Arlo Tuers. Marilyn Chapter Hosts Dist. Meet The District meeting of Marilyn Chapter No. 145, Vic toria Chaper No. 76, Turner, and Acacia Chapter No. 63, Stayton was held in Mill City Monday evening at 8 o’clock. Presiding officers were Mr. and Mrs. Al Yankus from Marilyn Chapter; Mrs. Miscel- la Simpson and Hugh Webb from Victoria Chapter, and Mrs. Betty Griffith and Charles Hecht from Acacia. Escorted and introduced were Mrs. Laurie Woodard, Worthy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Oregon; Mrs. Merle Lamar, Grand Committee member of the In ternational Temple fund of the General Grand Chapter and also a Past Grand Matron, Mrs. Veda Barker, Grand Martha. Mrs. Margaret Kelly, Grand Committee Member, Mrs. Hazel Elliott, Grand Re presentative to New Bruns- wisk in Oregon; Miss Wilene Wipper, Grand Representa tive to South Dakota in Ore- eon: Mrs. Iris Landon, Grand Representative to West Vir ginia in Oregon and three Worthy Matrons and four Worthv Patrons. The Worthy Grand Matron was honored with a degree and presented a bouquet of American Beauty roses and a gift of money. The Worthv Grand Patron was presented an ‘ owl’’ hank with a gift of monev. Each spoke briefly. Following the meeting re freshments were served with three from each chapter on the committe. There were 100 at the meeting. Preceding the meeting about 40 attended a dinner which was prepared and serv ed by Grant’s. Mill City fifth-grade class es visited places of interest in Salem on Thursday, February 1. The 39 students were ac companied by Mrs. Leo Car penter. Mrs. Roger Mink, Mrs. Lenthcl Ragsdale, Carl Schaf er, and Mrs. Don Williams. At 9:20 the group visited the Oregon State Library. Sever al of the 6 floors of books were seen. Next the Salem Police De partment was toured. The group compared It with what they had learned from Of- ficer Les White about the Mill City Police Department. The only difference they found was the number of employees at each department. Lunch was eaten at the Cat Cavern. Matthews Hall. Wil lamette University. Albert Fedje. Director of Admissions, arranged two tours. The stu dents had an opportunity to ask questions about college classes and life. Finally the group visited Salem General Hospital where they saw a 3-dav old baby in an incubator The children asked the nurses questions over cookies and punch.
