Roy Bedwell, Pastor Public Support By Don Gillenwater One of the best ways to see your way safely through the foggy, wet, poor visibil ity days of late fall and win ter driving is to take some preliminary safety precau tions. Have your windshield wip ers, heater and defroster system checked over before the really bad weather sets in. You can do a lot to Improve your visibility by taking the time to clean your windshield before taking off, and carry an extra cloth with you to give your windshield the once over before heading home after work. A little ven tilation will keep the inside windows from fogging while you drive. Almost 90 percent of driv ing decisions depend on sight. When visibility becomes poor, turn your lights on so other drivers can see you. Lights and signaling devices should also be in good working con dition--and don’t hesitate to clean them off when doing the windshield. After seeing that your car is working properly, the next best rule for driving during grey days of poor visibility is to slow down. 215 S. W. 6th Sunday school 9:45 a. m. Worship service, 11 a. m. WRONG STEP— The House Committee on Agriculture has approved legislation which would establish a new government corpora tion to be known as the Rural Telephone Bank. This bill (H. R. 12066) would authorize the appropria tion of $30 million per year for a total of $300 million oyer a ten-year period. It would set up an agency to provide sub sidized financing of expansion of rural telephone coop eratives. This legislation authorizes the commitment of millions of taxpayers’ money at a time when fiscal restraint by the government is imperative. It would postpone lessening of Federal involvement to a date far in the future. For these reasons, it is strongly urged that the House not consider H. R. 12066, as this legislation is a step in the wrong direction. Detroit News Gal Hit By Flu Bug By Boots Champion DETROIT — A "flu-bug” has hit the Upper North San tiam Canyon with many on the sick list. The vicious little creature must have come from a long, strain of wrestlers, because once he attacks, you go down for the count. Your throat will feel like they have been chumping on gravel, and your eye-balls will feel like they have been pushed to the back of your head, your head will ache, and a fever will sneak up on you. Your stomach will feel like you drank too many boiler-makers, and your body, like it had been run over with a 2-ton truck. After about two days of threshing around in the bed trying to find some position to lie' in, hopefully, where you won’t hurt, you will begin to sweat like a politician at an election. After what seems like an eternity in this wet, clamy, predicement, you yell for a dry bed. If you are lucky it will still be dry in the morn ing. Then when the day comes you feel like you can get up, watch it, you can go flat on your face. I know, I was one of them that took the count. Young Mothers if baby formula Is spilled on cloth ing, the sooner you wash it the better. For fresh stains, soak or pre-wash in deter gent and cold water. Then follow with a hot wash with detergent. Old stains set with the heat of the iron or dryer may never come out. However, if fabric will stand it, try liq uid chlorine bleach in the strength suggested for heavy stains on the bottle label. Then V’ash and rinse.
