got his honor in sailing.
This week Judy Kenline
and Melody Brannan are at
tending the camp during the
Girls’ Scouting week.
There are around 40 hon
ors one can choose from to
take and as one boy said,
“all are fun and interesting."
This year they have horses
for the horsmanship honor.
The State Game Warden pre
sented the camp with over
$2,500 worth of stuffed birds,
some quite rare, such as a
pelican worth $750. A state
artist painted the back
grounds for these birds. The
snowy white owl, one of the
rare birds, as there are only
five stuffed ones in the
United States and the camp
has been fortunate to have
one donated to it.
Rosy, the racoon, a real
tame pet lives at the John
Kenline residence after the
camp season until the next
summer.
Sailing, swimming, canoe
ing, water skiing on the lake
keep all the campers physi
cally fit as well as the hik
ing, which follows the Syk-
line Trail.

HOW MUCH WATER IS
ENOUGH? To be sure your
house plants have the right
amount of water, try this
trick used by U. S. Depart
ment of Agriculture scientists
in their preenhouses.
Get a funnel with a dia
meter about half that of the
flower pot. Stick it in the soil
and fill it with water. Con
tinue to add water until the
soil will take no more.
Remove the funnel by
sticking your finger into the
soil and capping the end so
the water doesn’t run out.
This method gives your
plants a thorough watering.
