Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dobrenz returned last week from Lit tlerock, Calif., where they have spent the past three months. She said the weath er was teriffic, it getting up to 115 one day. She said she was glad to get back home. Mr .and Mrs. Glen Shelton returned August 3 from Pon tiac, Mich., where they at tended a family reunion of his relatives. Many of them he had not seen in 20 years. There were 62 members of the family present. Due to the riots both in Pontiac and Detroit, the curfew ordin ance had to be obeyed and all people had to be off the streets before dark. They left July 18th and made the trip by plane. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen from Red Bluff, Calif., spent from Wednesday until Fri day visiting their friends, Mr. and Mrs. Gil Duckworth, Sr. They also visited in Lyons at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Riggs. The three couples be came friends when they all lived in the same moble home court. After their visit here they went to Eureka, Mont., via Spokand, Wn. This is their second visit with the Duckworths, and they like Mill City very much. Santiam To Issue Football Gear Coach Gerald Gibson of Santiam says today that football equipment will be issued to prospective team members on the following dates: Wednesday, August 16, 7 to 9:30 sophomores, juniors and seniors. Thursday, August 17, 9 to 12 a. in., freshmen, sopho mores, juniors and seniors, and these class members may also get equipment for 7 to 9:30 p. m. The coach says all candi dates should have their physical examination com pleted and turned in to him when they get their equip ment. Practice will start Monday, August 21 and will continue every day from 6:30 to 9:00 p. m. except Sundays. Saturday game type scrim mages will be held for all athletes. Any candidates needing physical examination forms should pick them up at the school from Coach Gibson. Recreation Report Indicates Fishing Good at Detroit PP&L Office Has Another Break-in The Pacific Power and Light office in Stayton was entered for the second time in three weeks early Monday morning. The new office safe which had been purchased after the last time it was burglarized, was again smashed up. The hinges had been sawed off, the sides peeled and mech anism fouled up. Mrs. Lee Bassett, who works in the office, said it was noon before they could get the safe open to get the money out. No receipts were taken in this attempted rob bery as the prowlers were evidently scared away be fore they completed their job. Three weeks ago a consid erable amount of cash and some checks were taken. Pacific Power and Light office was burglarized about six years ago and a consider able amount of cash taken. She is a beginner in the painting field but her pic tures are quite outstanding and the subjects eye-catch ing.
