According to Marion County Extension Agent Wilbur L. Bluhm nearly all summer brown spots in lawns relate to watering. Small humps in the lawn, too small to be seen by the human eye, dry out quickly and shed water. Dry spots show up when small humps occur. Most lawns should be wat ered now to prevent this problem. Best solution to summer brown spots is to start your lawn watering program early in the season. Once started, regular applica tions throughout the summer will help prevent brown spots. Applying water slowly is most helpful. When sprink lers apply water too fast, the water simply runs off rather than soaking in. Some sprink lers apply water more slowly than others, and are there- fore preferred. Bluhm adds that lawn brown spots are seldom due I to lawn moths. While often numerous, lawn moths cause less injury to lawns than commonly believed. i Pfc Donald Teeters Calls Parents at Mehama From Vietnam Mr. and Mrs. Donald Teet ers were thrilled Sunday ev ening to receive a telephone call, via a ham radio opera tor in San Francisco, from their son Pfc. Glen Skeels, manager of the Salem branch of the milk company came to Mill City to make the presentation t o Laurie. He said most of the winners had been from Port land and was happy to see someone from this area win. 6_ The Mill City Enterprise, Thursday^ June 15, 1967 Brunner 's Flowers and Gifts Flowers for all Occasions Corsages—Cut Flowers—Plants Shrubs—Bedding Plants FLOWERS by WIRE SERVICE 230 N.E. 4th Street Phone 897-2452 Mül City Telephone Directory Gets Share of Lumps This Year Put Dad in a Favorite Chair The often maligned tele phone directory is taking its lumps again this year.
