He said the races will begin at Heibert’s floating dock South of Detroit near old De troit road, on the lake, and will go to Piety Nob Island, and then up the arm of the Santiam southeast. One of the vantage points for view ing the regatta would be on the old Detroit Highway near Brazier Smalls’ home. The planned route, however, is subject to change depending on weather conditions. The first half of the race is scheduled from 10 a. m. to 12 and the boat parade from 12 to 1 p. m., followed by the final races of the day. Regis tration “in pits” will close at 9:30 Sunday morning. The participants will run five laps on a one-mile course. First, second and third place prizes of gold trophies will be awarded in the “pit” following the last heat of the day. The regatta is being spon- sored by the Oregon Speed- boat Association and the North Santiam Chamber of Commerce. Participating in the event will be the Whitewater Chal lenge Queen, Larie Goss, Stay ton and her court, Christine Rogers, Detroit; Patti East wood, Mill City; Brenda Phil lips, and Debbie Schumacher both of Stayton. Chairman Erickson said anyone wishing to decorate a boat and enter the parade is welcome. Classes of boat entries are: JU Runabout; AU Runabout; BU Runabout; CU Runabout; DU Runabout; A Stock Hydro; B Stock Hydro; C Stock Hy dro; and B Outboard Hydro. Officials are: Chairman C. O.
