On U of O Campus
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly
spent from Friday until Sun­
day on the University of Ore­
gon campus in Eugene as
guests of their son, John, for
Mother’s Day week-end. Fri­
day evening they attended the
colorful Canoe Fete on the
Millrace during which the
Bitterlick Singers helped fur­
nish entertainment. John also
appeared with the Mens’
Glee Club at the Mother’s
Breakfast in the Student
Union on Saturday morning.
Following a box lunch and
program in McArthur Court
at noon, the Kellys attended
an exhibition football game
on Hayward Field between
the Varsity and Alumni, won
by the former. They had din­
ner at the Kappa Sigma
house, then went to the All­
Campus Sing.
Sunday morning, the Kelly
family attended services at
the Central Presbyterian
Church in Eugene, visited for
a few minutes with the Don
Goodes, then headed for
home.
Later in the afternoon, they
attended the Golden Wedding
Reception for Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Budlong at the Gates
Club House, as the two men
are cousins.

Held Here Tuesday
Canyon Grand Council Have Installation
Honored on 50th of The Campfire
Girls was held

Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bud-
long were honored Sunday
when their children gave a
reception, at the Gates Club
House o£ their Golden Wed­
ding Anniversary.
Percy E. Budlong was born
in Salem and moved to Mill
City as a small boy where he
received his education.
Emma Hudel was born in
Mill City and received her
education in Mill City.
They were married May 12,
1917 in Salem and lived in
Mill City where he was em­
ployed in a logging camp. In
1922 they moved to Salem
where he was a Hoisting
Engineer for a contractor.
Tn 1944 they moved to Idanha
where he was employed by
Paul Reynolds of the Idanha
Power Company. In 1949 they
moved to Wolf Creek where
he was a Sawmill foreman
until the mill burned down
in 1952. They moved then to
Salem where he worked as
a mill electrician until he
retired in 1960. He built a
small sawmill at Mill City
and sawed lumber and built
them a new home on part of
the land where her parents
lived. In 1964 when the house
was completed, they sold the
home in Salem which they
had owned for 35 years and
moved to Mill City.
As a hobby, Mr. Budlong
has built a small train with
a track and switch backs,
which goes about % mile up
the mountain near their home
where he often takes his
grandchildren for rides.
At the reception Sunday,
Mrs. James Budlong greeted
the guests at the door. Mrs.
Carl Budlong cut and served
the Anniversary cake, Mrs.
Richard Budlong served the
coffee and Mrs. Ralph Bud­
long poured the punch. All
are daughters-in-law of the
honored couple. Claudia Bud­
long, a grandaughter, passed
the guest book. The decora­
tions were gold and white.
The couple have five sons
and two daughters, 20 grand­
children and three great­
grandchildren.

Hosts Longtime
Friends At Her Home
Mrs. Elmer Shaw was host­
ess at her home last Thurs­
day for a potluck dinner. The
guests were ladies who lived
at Camp 14 and Camp 24
about 40 years ago. The group
plan to have this as an an­
nual affair. The afternoon
was spent visiting and talk­
ing over “old times.”

ter, Mrs. Winifred Marshall
of Alma, Illinois, Mrs. “Coon”

Has Last Party at
Ruth Tohl Home
Members of tne Round
Robin Pinochle club had their
last party of the current sea­
son at the home of Ruth Tohl
Monday evening. The hostess
served a dessert before the
evening of cards.
Guest of the club for the
evening was Marge Ditter,
a former member. Receiving
high prize was Goldie Rambo,
who was fortunate enough to
get one of the beautiful cer­
amic items made by Mrs.
Tohl Margarent Boroughs re­
ceived pinochle prize and
Ruth Tohl received the low
prize. Mrs. Boroughs also
drew the lucky number for
the door prize, a ceramic vase
made by Mrs. Tohl.
The next party will be
September 11 at the home of
Goldie Rambo.
Mrs. Bob Pratt spent the
week-end visiting with her
daughter, Christine, who is a
freshman at the U of O.
She said she enjoyed the
many festivities planned for
the Mother’s including the
Canoe fete. Christine was one
of the worker’s on the prize
winning float in the fete.
Mrs. Pratt stayed with her
daughter at Ann Judson
house, which is sponsored by
the First Baptist Church.
They attended church serv­
ices there Sunday morning.
Mr. Pratt and family came |
after his wife Sunday after-1
noon and after visiting with
Christine, the group returned
home.

dents in recital May 21 at
3:00 p.m. at the First Chris­
tian Church, Mill City. Stu­
