Easter Seal Chairman
Else Allen Shows
Slides of Trip at
Lions Club Meeting
Mrs. Else Allen entertained
Lions at their regular meeting
Monday night. She showed
colored slides of South Amer
ica. She had made a three-
month tour of the country
and her pictures gave Lions
a better concept of that coun
try and their way of life.
Guests for the evening were
several boys and girls of the
month, including Kandee
Henness, Terry Hansen, Alan
Yankus .Sandra Cooper and
Mark Bennett. Others who
were unable to attend were
Dennis Davidson, Kathe Kelle
and Patti Eastwood.
President Martin Hansen
expressed his thanks to the
faculty members; Lara Wil
son, who had Brenda Can
non and Tania Brown dance
at the White Cane Basketball
wishes to thank all others
who assisted in making the
event a success, Clyde Rich-
ards, Lee Ross, Fred Berg,
and Jim Wettergreen were
oppinted on a commit
tee to make a check of the
Community center Wednes
day night to see what needs
to be done in the way of re
pairs. He also announced a
work night fo r Monday,
March 27.
A crowd of 1277 filled the
Sweet Home high school gym
for the highlight of the cir
cuit convention of Jehovah’s
Witnesses Sunday, March 5,
acording to John Woodcock,
local presiding minister. Cli
maxing the three-day assem
bly was the Watchtower So
ciety’s all-color film, “God
Cannot Lie," narrated by Al-
vyn L. Franck, district sup
ervisor for Jehovah’s Witnes
ses.
The film “How the Bible Is
Helpful Today” helped the
viewers feel that they are not
alone to face the diverse prob
lems that confront mankind.
It helped them to know that
the true God is not the pro
duct of human imagination
and He has not left it to man
to discover through centuries
of experience that there is a
God, but, lovingly, He has re
vealed himself through His
work, the Bible.
One of the outstanding fea-
turs of the assembly was the
baptism Saturday afternoon
of 13 men and women who
symbolized their dedication
to do God’s will by water im-
mersion.
The local minister also an-
nounced that all meeting and
other activities of the con
gregation suspended during
the convention will return to
the normal schedule.
