Terrence Martin Hangen, a junior at Santiam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hansen has been chosen boy of the month for January. Terry has been very active in sports having earned letters in Freshman basketball; his So phomore year JV basketball, JV football, JV basketball and JV track; and his junior year so far he has been in Varsity football and basketball. He I was on the honor roll his freshman and sophomore years. Presently he is presi dent of the band and vice- president of the student body. He was also boy of the month in his sophomore year. Terry plans to go to the U of O and would like to be a doctor. Kandee Lee Henness, a jun ior at Santiam, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clare Henness, Gates, was chosen girl of the month for January. Kandee has been a member of GAA three years and was historian her sophomore year, and se cretary this year, a Pep Club member for three years and is a member of FHA this ear. Her sophomore year she was a JV cheerleader and vicepresident of her sopho more class. She was a prin cess for the Sweethearts Ball her freshman year. Friday, February 24, Eddy ville captured the baseketball crown in their Marion B game with Detroit, 69-63. JV score was Detroit 57 to Eddy ville 38. Saturday Ken Tower paced Detroit to an 84-63 win against Culver. Tower is leading Marion B’s hoop champion with a 30.2 average. Detroit wound up the season with a record of 11-7. There will be a JV basket ball game at Mari-Linn March 9th at 3:15 P.M. Russell Rice of Detroit was admitted to Salem Memorial Hospital Monday for further medical treatment. Mrs. Ida Golder and daugh ter Mrs. Kenneth Larson of Detroit returned home this week following four days in Portland where Mrs. Golder underwent a periodic check up. Mrs. Golder suffered a stroke several months ago. Mrs. Ellen Johnson of De troit has been confined to her home with pneumonia.
