Funeral s?rvices were held
Thursday from Fisher Fun­
eral Home in Albany for Eula
Irene Malone, 50, of 3110 Rose­
mary Lane S.E. She died in
a Salem hospital on December
19 following a lingering ill­
ness.
Mrs. Malone was born Jan­
uary 19,1916 at Garden Grove,
Iowa, moving to Salem in
1956. Mr. and Mrs. Malone had
operated Haley’s Drive-In in
Mill City for the past several
summers.
She was a member of the
Methodist Church.
Surviving besides the wid­
ower, Ted Malone, are her
mother, Mrs. Mamie Honn,
Leon, Iowa; daughters, Mrs.
Judith Wright, Creswell; Mrs.
Dale LaHodney, Albany; Mrs.
Janet Blackwell, Albany; son,
Martin Malone, Salem; step­
sons, Lyle Schamp, Tillamook;
Loris Schamp, Forest Grove;
three brothers, Arthur Honn,
Leon, Iowa; Clell Honn, Leon,
Iowa and Wayne Honn, Des
Moines, Iowa; six sisters, Mrs.
Jack Moulton, Jefferson; Mrs.
Leslie Dunham, Weldon, Iowa;
Mrs. Opal Dunham, Albany;
Mrs. Orian Evans, Albany;
Mrs. Kenny Hinds, Leon,
Iowa; Mrs. Lucille Johnson,
Mineville, Iowa. Also surviv­
ing are three garndchildren.
Interment was at Will­
amette Memorial Park in
Albany.
Howard Mark
Howard A. Mark, 50, a life­
time resident of Klamath
Falls, died Thursday in a
Medford hospital.
Mark was born March 17,
1916, in Poe Valley, the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert
Mark. He attended school in
Poe Valley and for the past 27
years had been employed as a
welder for Weyerhaeuser Co.
Mark was a member of the
Aloha Chapter of Eastern Star
and Masonic Lodge No. 77 AF
and AM.
He is survived by his widow
Myrtle E„ Klamath Falls; two
daughters, Joyce Dewhurst,
Detroit, Oregon, and Elinor
Ehrst, Los Angeles, California;
two brothers, Jim Mark, Port­
land, and Billy Nichols, Phoe­
nix, Oregon; and four grand­
children.
Mr. Editor:
For the third time in recent
weeks the power pole on the
corner has been hit by a car.
Why something isn’t done
about it no one seems to
know. One party thought
there was a contest on to
see who could hit it the
hardest.
Regardless of what the rea­
son is something should be
done about it before there
is a fatal accident. Why wait
until “the horse has been
stolen before the barn is
locked.”
Some interested citizens
have done their bit by placing
some “pretty” streamers
around the pole where at least
it can be seen. Now they are
hoping someone will take the
gentle hint and fix something
permanent.
