Audrey and Earl Cedar Tavern Detroit, Oregon It was announced this week that Sunday morning service at the Detroit Church of Christ will be held at 10 o’ clock for that day only. There will be no evening service. Mrs. Lyle Rogers reported that there was a good attend ance on hand at the church Christmas party Sunday even ing Folks, don’t throw away your used Christmas cards. A request has been made by Mrs. Sam Leffler for them. Scrap books will be made up of the cards and given to the children at Fairview and oth er institutions. Cards may be left at Detroit Market. Melba Dellaire returned to her home in Salem Sunday following a few days’ visit at the Detroit home of Irene Stout. Mrs. Dellaire recently underwent major throat sur gery at a Salem hospital. We are happy to report she is well on the road to recovery. Falls City came from one point behind in the last min ute to win a 49-46 victory over Detroit there Friday night in a Marion B League basketball game. Jim Fergu son scored 28 points for Falls City, while Ken Tower notch ed 25 points for Detroit. JV score, Detroit 58, Falls City 50. Detroit will play Sal em Academy there Tuesday at 6:30. Hart of Klamath Falls, who under went brain surgery at a Med ford hospital last Monday died Thursday afternoon. He never regained consciousness follow ing the surgery. Doran, 51, Woodburn, died Wednes day at Santiam Memorial Hospital, Stayton, where he was taken after he was found unconscious in a Detroit mo tel.. He never regained con sciousness, and an autopsy indicated death was from a combination of ailments. Doran was owner and op erator of a restaurant in Kei zer. He had previously oper ated the Woodburn Bowling alley and a feed mill for 15 years in Gervais and Molalla. Born in Geraldine, Mont., he lived most of his life in the Woodburn area. He was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic church. Funeral services were held Friday with interment at Cal vary Cemetery, at Mount An gel. Benton Idanha, Oregon DETROIT — Detroit Ele mentary grades will present a Christmas program Thurs day evening, December 22 at 7:30 in the gym. Grades 1 through 8 will present a variety of skits and songs. The chorus will sing “What Child is This” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” In addition the band will present two selec tions, “Deck the Halls” and “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing.” Santa will be present at the conclusion of the program with treats for the children. The tree is annually put up and decorated by the Ameri can Legion, Idanha Unit 141, and the treats furnished by the Legion Auxiliary. School will be dismissed at 2:30 Friday, and will resume January 3.
