A thought for the week— “Whether a man winds up with a nest egg or a goose egg depends on the chick he married.” Mrs. Charlie French was honored last Wednesday ev ening with a surprise birth day party at her home. She was really surprised as her birthday wasn’t until Thurs day. Cake and coffee were served. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Charlie French, Mr. and Mrs. Doc Garton, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Chudzinski, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Girod and Jill. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Cree, Mrs. Don Carlson and Dick Wil liams. Bucky Lyons is home on leave at the present time, and visiting with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Kerr. Bucky recently gradu ated from Al Radar school in San Francisco. When he re turns to duty he will be as signed to a tanker. RENT IT! Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shaw were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bieber from Kingsley, Kan. Sunday dinner guests at the Shaw home were Mr. and Mrs. Don Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Trout and family moved into their new home Sunday on 3rd Street which Doc Garton built for them. Marilyn Chapter No. 145 will have a special meeting on Monday evening, Novem ber 28 for the purpose of con ferring degrees and to present a 25-year pin to Mrs. William Shuey. Mr. and Mrs. Al Yankus were in the Eastern part of the state over the weekend on an elk hunting trip. However, they were not successful, in fact Mrs. Yankus said that they not only did not see an elk but didn’t talk to anyone who had. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Todd and son, Allen, of Stayton were in Mill City Sunday vis iting with friends. They at tended services at the Pres byterian church Sunday. Mrs. Walter Leisy of Sweet Home and formerly of Mill City was honored last week on her birthday anniversary when friends called on her with a potluck dinner. Pres ent were Mrs. Ann Holman, Mrs. Cloyd Cox, Mrs. Elmer Shaw, from Mill City; Mrs. Floyd Bassett from Lyons, Mrs. Ramon Roberts from Lebanon and Mrs. Leisy. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kleihege have taken an apartment at the Ambassador apartments in Salem for a few months until her arm, which she broke recently in a fall, heals. The Kleiheges lived in Salem before moving to Mill City and she has relatives there. Mrs. Clyde Morgan Is con valescing satisfactorily a t Santiam Memorial hospital following emergency surgery performed Sunday night. She is an employee of U. S. Na tional Bank here. McCollom was arrested by Officer Les White after White had been informed of a disturbance at the High wayman Inn and told that Mc Collom was headed for Mill City. White made the arrest after being notified on the po lice phone.
