Practical demonstrations will be held, and all attending are encourg- ed to bring their bikes. Dem onstrations will be made to show braking distances, etc. Immediately after the safe ty school a number of actual Marine Corps combat films will be show in the gym. These films will show actual battle scenes from World War II and the Korean Con flict. Chief Jim Taylor ob tained the films for showing from the Marine Corps. Everyone Is invited, and certificates will be awarded those completing the program. Also bicycle registration will take place for all those who desire. This means that, generally, burning permits are not re quired for burning within the Clackamas-Marion Forest dis trict, except within some Ru ral fire districts which require a burning permit the year round. This year the Clackamas- Marlon Forest District person nel has taken action on 35 fires. There were 54 fires dur ing the 1965 fire season. Total forest acreage burned in the district during the 1966 sea son was 53 acres as compared to 144 for the previous season. During the 1966 season, se ven fires were caused by lightning. The rest were man- caused fires as follows: Debris burning, 11; smokers, 5; camp ers, 3; incendiary, 1; lumber ing and logging, 1; and miscel laneous, seven.
