A. Epperson. Their first stop was in Po catello, Idaho where they vis ited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Edeen. From there they visited with relatives and friends in Kansas and Mis souri and Texas City. After leaving Alabama they took a tour of Yosemite Park in California and visited with friends in northern California. Plans for the year were discussed and a donation was made to the Canyon Scholar ship fund in memory of Rob ert Gordon who was killed in a plane crash recently. It was announced that the Lions Auxiliary District di rector would make the Mill City Auxiliary an official visit in the near future. Tentative dates were suggested for her convenience with Connie Brady, secretary, to write to her. Open House at the Oregon State School for Blind was held in Salem November 3 and several from the Auxil iary planned on attending. Sight conservation is the main project of Lions clubs and Auxiliaries. Following the business meeting refreshments were served by Mrs. Berg and par ty games were played with Alene Peterman and Goldie Rambo in charge. Another special Interest meeting will be held at the school on Thursday evening December first at 7 p. m. with Holiday decorations and arrangements by Mrs. Eleanor Cook of Rtayton with a charge of fifty cents at the door. Turner I Subscribe to The Mill City Enterprise To Have Potluck Garden Club Has All-Day Meeting The Mill City Garden Club met Thursday for an all day meeting at the Mill City Fire Hall. At the business meeting the group voted to send a cash do nation to the Turner Memor ial Home instead of the usual personal gifts. The group will also send door swags etc for the cottages. The Club will be making tray favors for the patients at the Santiam Memorial Hospi tal for two days in December. The December meeting will be the Clubs Annual Christ mas party at the home of Mrs. Woody Heller. There will be a gift exchange. Following the business meeting the Lyons Garden Club joined the Mill City club for a sack lunch with dessert being served by the hostesses, Mrs. Fred Moore and Mrs. Lowell Cree. At 1 o’clock Mrs. Eleanor Cooke from the Stayton Flor al Shop gave a demonstration on Holiday Decorations. This was open to the public and 62 ladies attended. A number of door prizes were given. Rebekahs Nominate "Wig Party" at Veryl Lindsay Home The Mill City Jayceettes and their guests held a “Wig Party” at the home of Mrs. Veryl Lindsay Thursday even ing with all attending having an enjoyable time. Demonstrator for the hair fashions was Mrs. Dorothy Totten of Albany assisted by Virginia Wood of Scio. Following the evening of fun, refreshments were serv ed by Mrs. Lindsay and after the guests left a business meeting was held, conducted by Jan Waikart. Door prizes were won by Paula Grant and Cleta Wills. Guests present were Joyce Pflug, Goldie Rambo, Arlene Peterman, Betty Berg, Sue Lewellen, Cleta Wills and Bet ty Shaw. Members attending were Louann Goffin, Jan Waikart, Veryl Lindsay, Nancy Girod and Helen Davis. WSCS At Lyons Plans Bazaar LYONS—The meeting of the WSCS was held Tuesday af ternoon at the parsonage with Mrs. Nellie Riggs as hostess. Mrs. Reta Cruson presided over the meeting due to the absence of Mrs. Ethel Huff man president. Plans were completed for their annual bazaar and supper to be held on Wednesday, November 9, to be held at the Methodist Church beginning at 5:30 p. m. It was voted to send a box of clothing for the cloth ing drive overseas. Plans were made for those who could to attend the meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Lierman in Stay ton with the Topic “Christian Being and Doing.” Present at the meeting were Mmes Fieda Gruggett, Carrie Naue, Donna Elmore. From Vacation Trip GATES—Mr. and Mrs. Wal ter Thomas returned Sunday fiom a 10 day trip to Nevada anil California. The Thomases first visited Winnamucca, Nev., going on to Reno where they made a tour of some of the plush gambling cassinos. Mrs. Thomas said they were not gamblers themselves, but had a lot of fun just watching the people who were. They were in Carson City for the Admission Day parade and en joying brousing around through the Carson City Museum. A short visit was made to Virginia City where they had lunch and enjoyed looking at the old buildings and an excursion to the early day cemetery. A study of the old headstones revealed most died young in those days, Mrs. Thomas said. The balance of the week was spent in Fresno, Calif., with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin C. King. They also visited his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas in San Jose. On their way home, the Thomases visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lyons in Mon terey, Calif. Officers for the ensuing year were nominated and election will be held at the November 16 meeting of the order. Irene Lewin was nominated for noble grand; Blanche Sy- verson, vice-grand; Ann Prim- eau, secretary and Daisy Ged des, treasurer. Following the business meeting refreshments were served by Marie Stickney and Mildred Carr with the Thanks giving theme used for the decorations. Marilyn Chapter No. 145 OES will meet at the IOOF Hall Monday, November 14. A potluck dinner will be served at 6:30 P. M. with Mr. and Mrs. William Hirte as chairman and Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlson, Mrs. Mabel Park er and Mrs. Velma Carey on the refreshment committee. High prize was received by Jessie Bodeker, a guest for the evening. She also held 1000 aces during the evening which is always an exciting event for the lucky card player. Pinochle prize was won by Betty Pittam and low was re ceived by Gladys Podrabsky. Wilma Ragsdale was also a guest for the evening. The hostess served refresh ments before the four tables of pinochle were in play. The next meeting will be November 21 at the home of Betty Pittam.
