2—The MUI City Enterprise, Thursday, Oct. 27, 1966 Engagement of Lynda Parker Announced Mr. and Mrs. Richard Park er are announcing the en gagement of their daughter, Miss Lynda M. Parker to Ron ald B. Cotrell, of Corvallis, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Cotrell of Hutchinson, Kan. Mr. Cotrell is now a gradu ate student at Oregon State University. Miss Parker is a graduate of Santiam High school and a Salem business schol. She is presently em- ployed in the office of the Detroit Ranger station. No date has been set for the wedding. Local PTA Plans Annual Ham Dinner Mrs. Fred Gruver and Mrs. Bill Learning, co-chairmen of the Ways and Means commit tee, said this week that the annual PTA ham dinner will be held at the Mill City grade school gym from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday, November 10. This is the only fund raising event of the year by the PTA and plans so far this year in dicate that local needs will be stressed more than usual. Mrs. Alice Morrison is PTA president and said that there is a controversial discussion on whether to retain member ship in the state PTA or to form a Parent-Teacher’s club. Residents are Invited to ex press an opinion on this mat ter before the regular meeting in December. JACK J^NUNSEN SENATE! Oth er members present were Paula Grant, Veryl Lindsey, Louann Goffin, Jan Waikart and Nancy Girod. Plans were discussed for the Hallowe’en party and winners of the door prizes at the Christmas Card tea were an nounced. They were Mary Lou Zechentmayer, Betty Shaw, Betty Rains, and Eliza beth Heller. Refreshments were served and door prizes were won by Louann Goffin and Paula Grant. The next meeting will be held at Veryl Lindsey’s. Mehama Women's Club to Work on Street Light Funds MEHAMA — Mrs. Don Cal lahan, Mrs. Bob Reagles and Mrs. Betty Wagner were host esses for the meeting of the Mehama Women’s club when they met at the fire hall on Thursday evening. The mem bers decided to hold their November and December meetings on the third Thurs days and then go back to the regular meeting date of the fourth Thursday of the month The Street Light committee reported that the lights had gotten in arrears during the summer and those who had not made donations should make them at Shafers as soon as possible. Delegates for the Federa- tion meeting at Stayton, Oc tober 27 were appointed and several more members indi cated that they planned to at tend. Santiam Rebekah lodge met In special session Satur day at the IOOF hall. The Santiam lodge hosted the Dis trict 7 meeting of Rebekah lodges when the president of the Rebekah Assembly of Ore gon, E. Mae Kaefer of Glen dale. paid her official visit. Lodges from Stayton, Jef ferson, Turner, Scio and Mill City participated in the in teresting and instructive ses sion which started at noon. There were also visitors present from Springfield, Glendale, Sisters, Warrenton and from the IOOF home in Portland. The convention was declar ed a particularly successful one and was headed by An tonia Thomas of Santiam with Dorris Kneiling of Jefferson serving as vice chairman. Carmen Barnhardt, Santiam, was convention secretary. Officers elected for next year’s convention include Agnes Allen of Turner, who will be chairman and Zelma Plane, also of Turner will serve as secretary. The 1967 District Convention will be held at Ideal Lodge of Turn- er. Mrs. Kaefer gave a school of instruction with quesions : on Oddfellow-Rebekahship dis cussed. She also greeted all those present individually. A tribute was given to the president, directed by Ann Pri meau, with other lodge mem bers assisting. The president’s colors, pink tones, were at tractively used in the tribute. Mildred Carr was in charge of the decorations for the en tire hall and she received many compliments on the out standing arrangements o f pink and green. Following the 6 o’clock no host dinner a program was presented with Delores Staf ford doing a pantomime; Ruby Brisbin and Rach'l Olmstead each giving a reading and Velma Hatfield of Turner played several piano selec- tions. There also was group singing. Juanita Emerson, noble grand, of Santiam Rebekah lodge assisted with making arrangements for the visit of Mrs. Kaefer. Why wait until 8. Alice Bouche, pre sident, conducted the business meeting. Plans were made for their annual Country Store to be held Sunday afternoon No vember 13 at the Catholic hall. There will be cooked food, fish pond and games and a door prize. Attending the meeting were Rose Schwindt, Jackie Bou che, Evelyn VanAgtmael, Shirley Peterson, Mary Voltin, Marian Frichtl, Ruth Lyons, Kathleen Manning, Anne Holfuss, Mary Fink, Anne Pietrok, Louise Pietrok, Mary Sieg, Eidwin Sieg, Mike Fink, Andrew Sieg, Mike Schwindt, Florent Frichtl, Ben Voltin, Bernard Voltin and Fr. Bern ard, who held a discussion on the Decrees of the Vatican Council. At the close of the meeting refreshmets were served by the hostesses. The next meet ing of the club will be held Monday night, November 21 at 7:30 at the Catholic hall.
