Celebrate Golden Wedding Date 2__The Mill City Enterprise, Thursday, Sept. 15. 1966 Rainbow Girls Attend Phyl Knights Host Anniversary Party Mr. and Mrs. Phyl Knight hosted a familly gathering for his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Knight of Corvallis, Sunday, September 11 on the occasion of their 64th wed ding anniversary. All the Knight sons and daughters were present for the occasion as well as some of the grand children. The couple has 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A decorated anniversary cake was centerpiece for the dinner table Sunday, The af- ternoon was spent visiting and playing croquet on the Knight lawn. Most of the guests spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Knight. Attending besides the hon ored couple were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Armacost of Cam bridge, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Knight of Grants Pass; Mr. and Mrs. James McCallen of Eugene and Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sexauer of Olympia, Wn. Reception at Silverton A reception was held for Rainbow Grand Worthy Ma tron Donna Church at the Sil verton High school on Sun day September 11. The reception was attended by all but one of the Grand family. Those attending from Mill City were Marsha Worley, Worthy Advisor, Teresa Met- teer, grand choir, Lynette Chance, grand choir, Lynette Parker, assistant worthy ad visor, Pat Moore, Diane Met- teer, Darlene Rue, Esther Freeman, Mr. and Mrs. Er vin Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Verne Clark and Mrs. LaDell Metteer, Mother advisor. The Mill City Rainbow girls will hold their first fall meet ing of the fall on Wednesday, September 14 at the lodge hall at 7:30. Mrs. Jesse Hay wood and Mrs. Athol Under wood were co-hostesses for the lo’clock dessert luncheon. On Wednesday, September 21, members of the club will meet at the Hilltop parking lot at 1:30 p. m. and go to the home of Mrs. Flora Shuck at Mehama, where they will visit her gardens. The first Thursday in Oc tober Mrs. Maurice Juve from Salem, who has studied flow er arranging in Japan will give a demonstration of flow er arranging at Fellowship hall at 1 o’clock. This meeting will be open to the public but those who do not belong to the Garden Club will be asked to pay a small fee. Members of the Garden club will meet at the hall at 10:30 a. m. for the business meeting and those attending will bring a sack lunch. Mrs. Hollis Turnidge and Mrs. Darwin Rains will be co-hostesses. Mrs. Helen Kleihege will make the arrangement for the month and Mrs. Isabell Heller will have the table of the month. At Thursday’s meeting Mrs. Wilbur Harlan made the ar rangement for the month and Mrs. Hollis Turnidge made the table setting. The club’s annual bazaar was discussed and it was vot ed to have it in February in stead of before Christmas due to the extra work each one has in their own homes. For the program, Mrs. Har vey Tolbert gave an interest ing talk on “birds.” Present Thursday were Mrs. Thomas Whitney from Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Wy nona Kennedy from Gates and Mmes. Floyd Fleetwood, Jim Swan, Wendell Heller, Wilbur Harlan, Alice Watson, Ervin Peterson, Glen Shelton, Hollis Turnidge, Louis Verbeck, Dan Kleihege, J. C. Kimmel, Har vey Tolbert and Lowell Cree. Married Here Recently \ V. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Henderson are shown cut ting the cake at a Golden Wedding Reception held re cently in Springfield at the home of their son. The three sons and daughter of the Hendersons were hosts for the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Henderson are former long time residents of this area. They now make their home on Redmond route. Ohmarts Entertain At Anniversary Party Mrs. John Meuser (Carolyn Davenport) who was married here recently in ceremonies held at the First Christian Church. Performing the ceremoney was the groom’s father, Rev. Jack Meuser. The young couple will make their home in Eugene where he will attend the U of O and she will be employed in an office. Eastern Star Has First Fall Meeting Marilyn Chapter No. 145 OES started their fall meet ings Monday evening with Gordette Garton as Worthy Matron and Merle Garton as t Worthy Patron. A potluck dinner preceded the meeting with line officers Gordette Garton, Odette Chud- zinski, Mabel Yankus and La Dell Metteer as hostesses. Installation ceremonies were held for Elsie Völkel who was ill July 10 and was unable to be installed. Saturday, September 17 at 1 o’clock the ladies of the Eastern Star wil prepare and serve the dinner when the Masonic lodge will entertain Prineville lodge. Marilyn Club will have a 12 o’clock covered dish lunch eon Tuesday, September 27 at the home of Mrs. Ervin Peter son. Rainbow installation was anounced for Sunday, Septem ber 25 at 2 p. m. when Lyn ette Parker will be installed as Worthy Advisor. The altar was draped in memory of Jay Mason, who passed away July 25. Refreshments were served after the business meeting and the Associate Matron and Patron, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Chudzinski were pre sented with a decorated cake in observance of their 24th wedding anniversary, School of instruction will be held at the November meeting. Visitors from Salem and Turner were present. Son of Detroit Folks To Marry DETROIT—Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Stevens,Sr. of Red- water Brook Rd., Keene, N. H; have announced the engage ment of their daughter, San dra Kay, to William Rich ard Whiteley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Whiteley of Detroit. Miss Stevens is a 1962 grad uate of Stevens High School and a 1965 graduate of Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing, Keenue, N. H. She is presently employed by Westchester County Hospital in Valhalla, N. Y. Mr. Whiteley is a 1963 grad uate of Sylmar High School in Sylmar, Calif. He attend ed the University of Calif ornia, and recently completed his second year at the Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn. Whiteley, a Helicopter pilot, is scheduled to attend the Air Force Warrant Officers Flight School, Texas, following his basic training at Fort Polk, Ga. No date has been set for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Ohmart entertained at a no-host buf fet supper Sunday evening honoring Mr. and Mrs. Doug las Ohmart on the occasion of their first wedding annivers ary. The buffet table was cent ered with a single candle in an arrangement of orchid and pink gladiolus. Guests were each treated to a slice of their wedding cake which had been kept frozen by Mrs. Fred Duffy. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Poff, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vavrick, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ohmart, Ken neth Rich, all of Salem; Jack Morris of Bonneville, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Duffy, Diane Schulz, Ron and John Ohmart, and the hosts. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Duffy were unable to attend. Presbyterian Family Retreat Successful The Family Retreat spon sored by the Mill City Pres byterian Church September 9-11 proved very successful according to those attending. The Rev. Ted Crouch, as sistant pastor at the First Presbyterian church in Salem was in charge of the program. There were discussion groups and fun and fellow ship for all ages from 1 to 80 years. Theme for the discussions was “God’s Frozen People.” The Sunday morning worship service was led by John Mac Gregor. About 30 attended the Re treat which was held at San tiam lodge. Navy Man Visits at Martin Kelly Home Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kelly from Wednesday until Sunday of last week was their grandson. Scott Lewis, who just finished his boot camp training at San Diego. Scott spent five days visit ing his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lewis and his two broth ers in Honolulu before coming here. He returned to San Diego where he will spend the next 18 weeks attending the Fleet Anti-Sub Warfare school, studying to be a sonar tech nician.
