The young couple will be in Eugene after Sept. 12 where he will attend the U of O and she will be employed as an office clerk. Both young peo ple are graduates of Santiam High school and she attended the U of O last year and he was a student at Northwest Bible college. They brought their granddaughter Brenda to join her mother, Mrs. El len Howland and brother and sister who have been visiting the past two weeks at the Dodge home from Paso Rob les, Calif. Mrs. Howland and Ì children plan to return home Friday. Mrs. Dodge’s grand mother, Mrs. Della Dike of Tecopa, Calif., is also visiting again at their home following a 10-day visit at the home of her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dike in Spo kane, Wash. A family picnic was heid on Sunday at Fishermen’s Bend park. Attending as well as the Dodges and their house guests were Mr. and M r s. E. F. Chance of Albany, Mary Barnes of Molalla, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hein.d, Anita and Robin of Molalla, Capt. and Mrs. Vernan Chance and three daughters of Albany, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chance and two daughters and Carl Chance of Mill City and Ver non (Otis) Chance of Hunts ville, Ala. Vernon, who had flown in from Alabama earlier In the week, visited several days in Molalla, going on to California, following the pic nic to spend the rest of his vacation with friends and rel atives. Girod Home Sept. 1 The September 1 meeting of the Mill City Jayceettes was held at the home of Nan cy Girod. It was planned to have a tea to show Christmas cards and other items to be sold by the club later in the fall. Oth er groups in town will be asked to attend. The Jayceettes have done a lot of work this summer on their Hillside Improvement project and will soon cover the shrubs with sawdust to protect them from winter weather. Prizes were won during the evening by Jan Waikart and Paula Grant. Following the business meet refreshments were served by the hostess to Louann Goffin, Jan Waikart, Paula Grant, Veryl Lindsay, and Sharon Hird. Garden Club To Meet At Gates Clubhouse The Mill City Garden club will meet Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Gates Community club house. Hostess for the 1:00 p. m. dessert luncheon will be Mrs. Jesse Haywood and Mrs. Ace Underwood. Mrs. Wilbur Harlan will make the flower arrangement for the month and Mrs. Char lie French will make the ta ble arrangement for the month. Mrs. Harvey Tolbert will give a talk on “Birds”. A report on the recent flo wer show will be given. Detroit Teachers Have Get Acquainted Party DETROIT — A “get ac quainted” potluck luncheon was held Thuqsday evening at Mongold State park for em ployees and their families of Detroit school. The event was sponsored by the District’s Board of Education. Everyone had a good time, including a swarm of hungry yellowjack ets who unceremoniously crashed the party. The persis tant little greedy creatures had no manners, period! Six new teachers have join ed the district’s teaching staff. They are: Ron Wilkerson, Klamath Falls, elementary principal, and 7th and 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Fern Slet- to, Lyons; 3rd grade, Miss Cecilia Daughtery, Woodburn, 4th grade; Mrs. Carol Hend rickson, McKinzie Bridge, 6th grade; and two high school teachers. Miss Nina Johnson, Huntington, Ore., and Mr. Joe Zelfer, Scapoose. Eastern Star To Meet Monday Night Marilyn Chapter No. 145 OES will hold their first meet ing of the fall on Monday ev ening, Sept. 12. A potluck din ner will be served at 6:30 p. m. with Mrs. Merle Garton, Mrs. Steve Chudzenskl, Mrs. Al Yankus and Mrs. William Metteer serving on the re freshment committee. This will be the first meet ing for the officers who were installed July 10. Mrs. Merle Garton is the worthy matron and Merle Garton worthy pat ron. MEHAMA By Mrs. John Teeters Mrs. Jennie Moe visited dur ing the weekend with her daughter’s family the Joe Jones’ of Klamath Falls when she went to attend the wed ding of her granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Jones on Satur day evening, August 27. Also going down for the wedding were Mrs. Larry Kimsey and daughters, Susan and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Norton received word from their daughter’s family S/Sgt. and Mrs. Allan McDonald and three children that they had arrived safely in Germany. The family flew from Ft. George Meade, Md., to Frank fort, Germany and from there went to Kassell, where Sgt. McDonald will be stationed Mrs. McDonald said that they had a beautiful four bedroom apartment all furnished and that they were real close to the schools for the children. Mrs. Henry Kornmann of Vancouver, Wn., visited Mon day, August 29 with her mo ther, Mrs Jennie Moe and her sister, Mrs. Larry Kimsey. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Branch spent last weekend camping at the coast and they also visited a short time with brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Siewert at Neotsu. Sunday afternoon guests at the Branch home were her two sisters, Mrs. William Holfuss of Lebanon and Mrs. Eva Parrish of Junc tion City. Mrs. Parrish re mained for a few day’s visit Mrs. David Blum, Judy and Jimmy joined her brother’s family the T. W. Smiths of Turner when they all visited with relatives in Tacoma dur ing the Labor Day weekend. Edward Davenport is en joying a 14-day leave from the Army, visiting with relatives and friends here. He will re port back to Ft. Riley, Kan., for a new assignment when his leave is over. The Mehama firemen were called Thursday evening to the Bob Rogers home below town to check on an over heated oil stove. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Titze spent a couple of days last week camping on the Metolius riv er. Dennis Teeters, who was on a few day’s leave at his home in Albany from the Air Base at Mountain Home, Ida., vis ited with relatives here a short time the first of the week. Mrs. Donald Teeters and son, Bruce, spent most of the Labor Day wekend visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris McDonald at Glide. Farewell Party for Mrs. Marge Hudgins DETROIT—A potluck fare well picnic luncheon honor ing Mrs. Marge Hudgins of Breitenbush Hot Springs was held Sunday afternoon at the Springs. Attending besides the hon ored guest were Mabel Poncia, Pearl Geibeler, Hilda Dickie, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Oja, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Champion, Ted Gehlen and Eric Petersen.
