Sometimes a little checking over will save large repair bills later. A Thorough Check Up NOW Can Save Big Repair Bills LATER So many times Chamber members have asked: What flood dtx-s the North Santiam Chamber of Commerce do? Some say the Chamber has done nothing for the area since it was organized in 1951. This is not true. J. C. Kimmel the Chamber's first president went though the minutes and came up with a list of some of the accomplishments. For this reason, a letter is being sent to you to show that the Chamber HAS and DOES do a lot of good for the area as a whole. • In 1951 the Chamber furnished coffee at Manon Forks when the Fish Hatchery was dedicated. • The Chamber worked with Mt. States Power Company in gathering data which was used in an Industrial Survey brochure • Backing was given which led to getting an appropnation for the Sub Station at Lyons. • Spearheaded a drive for the improvement of the IJttle North Fork road, and also worked on the drive to complete the Mehama-Salem section of Highway 22. • Urged the Fish Commission to stock Detroit lake as heavily as possible • Led the drive to have Mongold road made available for boat launching • Paid for having a motion picture made of the area. This movie has been used many times to advertise the beauties of this country. • Secured a foot bridge across the river between Lyons and Mehama, cutting down the danger of injury to pedestrians. • Secured the caution light at the Mehama-Highway 22 intersection. • Exerted pressure to get guard rails along Highway 22 at Detroit l»ake Much work was done for years to get extended area telephone service between Mill City, Lyons, and Stayton. This alone has saved many thousands of dollars for telephone subscribers in the Canyon • • Put Your Family's Safety FIRST! Make Your Service Date NOW! « w. a* GENE TEAGUE CHEVROLET STAYTON 120 W. Our Chamber is com prised of both business people and other interested citizens. How is it supported?— Answer—Your dues pay the expenses such as brochures and other advertising. The real success is measured by your participation and per sonal interest. Some of every dollar spent in the area rubs off on your community in one way or another.
