2—The Min City Enterprise, Thunxlay, Auguri 8. 1963 Garden Club Has Potluck; Makes Plans for Show Jaycettes Make July 4th Suggestions The MUI City Garden club met Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Witt for the annual family pot luck dinner at 6 o'clock. Mrs. Floyd Flee two id and Mrs. Kenneth (Aiming were co hostesses. Following the dinner a short business meeting was held. Plans were started for the clubs flower show with Wednesday, September IS chosen as th«' date. The show will be held at Fellowship hall. The following committees were named by the president, Mrs. Daniel Kleihege: publicity. Mrs. Lowell Cree: poster. Mrs. Harvey Tolbert; flowers. Mrs. James Swan. Mrs. Wendell Hel ler. and Mrs. Horace McCarley; Food, Mrs. J. C. Kimmel. Mrs. Herbert Schroeder and Mrs Fred Moore. A card was signed by thtise present to be sent to Mrs. Nor ah Selfridge, a former member, who is seriously ill with can cer. at the home of a son in Southern California. The September meeting of the club will be held September 5 at the home of Mrs. Q. V. Mil ler at 1252 S. E 4th street. The last Jaycettc meetting was held at the Jaycee hall with Shirley Hoover serving as host ess. As TAC committee members had asked organisations to help improve the 4th of July Queen coronation and parade the women offered the follow ing suggestions'. A loud speaker to announce floats and their sponsors: no pedal pushers should H' worn on the Queen's float: get parade theme out earlier. It was voted to enter the Jaycette float in the Santiam Bean Festival parade if it was still in good shape. It was first place winner in the 4th of July parade. The gnxip decided to Christmas cards again year to earn money for Tbys for Tbts project. August 10 and 11. There will be horticultural ex- nioits, single and three spikes, vases of eight spikes of one color and baskets of 16 spikes, one color of mixed. All baskets must have handles. There will be artistic ar rangements including themes of "Company for Dinner, " dining table arrangements; "Duet.” twin arrangements: ’ Tea for Two.” Coffee table arrange- ments "Evening on the patio,“ glads in suitable container: “Choir Practice,” arrangements using religious figurine; "Va cation Days.” using driftwood and shells. There will be two corsage classes, using glads only and mixed with other flowers. Junior Division in single and three spike for hoys and girls up to 14 years old.
