Even though you don't know In advance when death will come, you can help ease the burden for your family by plan ning ahead tor financial con cerns at time ot death, says Mrs. Dorothy Sherrill Miller, former Oregon State University extension home management specialist. Mrs. Miller is the author of "When Death Comes," a ru-w bulletin produced as part of the OSP Extension Service pro gram in family finance. It gives information on im portant financial matters at time of death such as funeral and burial costs, bank accounts, safe deposit boxes, life insur ance, and social security bene- fits. The bulletion explains sub jects that every family young or old stv hi id discuss long be fore death occurs. Mrs. Miller says she finds that families who plan ahead are better able to meet death both financially and emotionally than those who hesitate to talk it over. Other topics covered in the bulk-1 in include : cremation, funeral insurance. choosing a funeral director. appraising cemetery kits, cut-rate funer als. shipping a body to a dis tant place for burial, veter- a'ns benefits, savings bonds estate taxes, and letters of last instructions.
