LYONS Gifts Asked for Patients in Oregon Mental Hospitals An appeal for Christinas Rifts for the 4,000 patients in Oregon- mental hospital* this year was emphasized by a letter from Gov. Mark O. Hatfield to Ment al Health Association of Ore gon president Joseph D. Mat- arazao. The Governors'* letter says: "The Mental Health associa tion of Oregon is sponsoring a project this year that empha sizes the positive side of ment al Hint's* recovery. 1 would hope that citizens in all walks of life will support the Christ mas gift project which is only one of many through which the Association augments the ef forts of our State and local agencies to assure that patients in our several institutions are made to feel a part of the com munity and are encouraged to lead useful lives. "This year the association is urging that Oregonians give gifts of a vocational and re habilitation nature . . ■ under lining the fact that new medica tions and early treatment give hope that many of those now hospitalized will be home next Christmas.” Santiam Ripples Philippi Motor Co.
