J. C. KIMMEL, Mayor On Hunting Trip William Stewart Mill City friends and relatives have received word of the death of Bill Caswell of Springfield while on a hunting trip in the Enterprise area. Caswell had apparently been in good health until suddenly stricken with a heart attack Friday evening. Ho was mar ried to Mary Rada a year ago August. They arc both former long-time residents of the area. Other survivors include a brother, Lawrence Caswell at Cottage Grove and two sisters in Canada. Funeral arrangements were in charge of McGinnis Mortu ary in Portland, with services held at 2 p. m. Tuesday. Finishes Naval Training At San Diego Base William L. Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Stew art of Gates completed recruit training, Sept. 28, at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. During the nine-week indoct rination, recruits are trained in physical fitness, basic military law, military drill, customs and etiquette of the navnl service, swimming and survival, firs' aid and basic shiplxiard rotbine. During the training recruits receive tests and interviews which determine future training and assignments. Philadelphia, October 26 — Robert E. Gray, Box 515, Mill City, graduated today from a special one-week course in hydroelectric instrumentation held in the Leeds & Northup Company Training Center here. A powerhouse electrician in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers stationed at Detroit Dam, Gray is shown here receiv- ing directions for operating an electronic recorder from his instructor, Royal A. Dresher. Gray wa. among 33 U. S. Govern ment technicians from all parts of the United States that took the course. The instruction included a study of temper ature instruments of which Leeds & Northup is a leading manufacturer.
