Frank lin was pinned in the wreckage for about two hours before he could be freed. He was taken by ambulance to Santiam Me morial hospital when he was ex tricated from the crumpled mass of metal which held him prison- $3.00 A Year—10c A Copy Simpson Logging Company To Have Fifth Anniversary Event at Lyons Ply Plant PORTLAND, November 14-—Simpson Logging Com« pany, November 24, will note the fifth anniversary of its Lyons Plywood Plant with an open house for em ployees and their families. Families will tour the plant in the evening thus getting a chance to see where Dad works and also will receive the traditional Thanksgiving turkey given by the Company from Guy Hartle, plant manager. er. Harris summoned help from De troit Ranger station. They brought a fire extinguisher and put out the fire before he re ceived any bums. Clyde Storey of Idanha was called and used a cutting torch to cut away the metal holding Franklin a pris oner. Franklin directed the work so he could be pulled free of the wreckage. The vehicle owned by A. T. Bamhardt was headed toward Idanha with a load of cement for a veneer plant in the area. Walt Westgaard, mechanic for the firm took a cutting torch to cut a hole in the mix er, and the pumper truck from Detroit Fire department was Used to flush the cement out of the mixer before it had a chance to set.
