The Mill City Planing and Proces­
sing Company had a destructive fire
Tuesday. Firefighters saved all but
the planing building and equipment.
An overheated motor was believed
to be the cause.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Lake received
word that their son. Jack Lake.
Gunners Mate 2|3 of the U. S- Navy,
thought he would be discharged the
second week in Novemzer.
Wayne Delos Hoeye spent his fur­
lough with his family here, at the
home of Mrs. Hoeye’s mother. Mrs-
Harry Mason. He is from Camp Wal­
ters, Texas.

October 27, 1949
Mill City’s first charter election
was postponed to November 8 due to
delay in posting notice. Mayor Har­
old Kliewer and Councilmen ruled
that 30 day period must be com-
plied with.
Mill City State Bank opened in its
new quarters on First Ave and Front
St. last Saturday with more than
250 attending, according to Boo
Hill, cashier.

tember 25. Dick was employed in the

Mrs. Robert Veness. chairman of
the PTA’s International dinner was
hard at work planning for the sched­
uled November 4 dinner at the grade
school gym
Mrs- Roy Pate had won a $150 dia­
mond ring as second prize in a recent
contest by a Eugene firm. She had the
diamond reset in a man's ring and
presented it to her husband on their
16th wedding anniversary.
Firemen were working on prepara­
tions for their 10th annual benefit to
be held Saturday, November 20. John
Muir was general chairman.
