S Forest Service crews put out a fire on the Breitenbush River about a mile and half above Detroit Sunday night. District Ranger Al Sorseth of the Mill City district said it apparently was started near the stream by a fisherman or smoker. Rogers were in Portland recently at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Troy Wambaugh and with them went to Wauna where Mr. Rogers used to run a gang saw for a period of about seven years. While there he saw Billy Catto, who used to work with him and is still employed there. The mill is being dismantled but the planers are still running. Mr. Rogers said it was ra ther depressing to him to see the old saw being torn up. From Wauna they went to Ft. Stevens National Park for a picnic dinner, then on to Sea side, where they spent several hours watching the whales spout and going through the aquarium. They return ed to Portland. The next day they went to the home of another daughter, Mrs. George Bertilson in Oregon City where Mrs. Rogers and her grand daughter, Mrs. Helen Jones cele brated their birthday anniversaries together. Former Detroit School Mates Have Get-Together Mr. and Mrs. Albin Cooper visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley White at Waldport during their re ent vacation. While they were there a “get to-gether’’ of former class mates at Detroit High school was ar ranged with the group enjoying the day visiting and getting re-acquainted again. They agreed to have another such affair and include more of the former students. Mrs. Cooper said those at the Waldport event were “in separable” classmates. Those enjoying the day were Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and family; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley White and family of Waldport; Mr and Mrs. Rav Monroe and family of Idanha, and Mrs. Har vey Burns and children of Coos Bay. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Otis J. White, a former Detroit school principal, now at Reedsport.
